Hey Mr President
I found this piece on the information highway. I posted it here in my diary so that I can reflect back on it later in 4 years- for comparison. I think Obama is a good man, although I didn’t vote for him, in fact I didn’t vote at all. I just didn’t feel comfortable with Obama or McCain. Obama is my president now so I just deal with it and hope he does what he has promised. Lately, I have been very leary about decisions he has made and I feel that he has come to a cross road and has chosen the wrong path.
So Mr President lets see if you can prove me wrong-Let me come back to this entry in four years and say “Hell ya, the dude kept his promises”.

10 things you should know about Obama’ s plan (but probably don’t)
The plan:
Makes a $634 billion down payment on fixing health care that will go a long way toward paying for a more efficient, more affordable health care system that covers every single American.
Reduces taxes for 95% of working Americans. And if your family makes less than $250,000, your taxes won’t go up one dime
Invests more than $100 billion in clean energy technology, creating millions of green jobs that can never be outsourced.
Brings our troops home from Iraq on a firm timetable, finally bringing the war to a close and freeing up almost ten billion dollars a month for domestic priorities.
Reverses growing income inequality. The plan lets the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans expire and focuses on strengthening the middle class.
Closes multi-billion-dollar tax loopholes for big oil companies.
Increases grants to help families pay for college the largest increase ever.
Halves the deficit by 2013. President Obama inherited a legacy of huge deficits and an economy in shambles, but his plan brings the deficit under control as soon as the economy begins to recover.
Dramatically increases funding for the SEC and the CFTCthe agencies that police Wall Street.
Tells it straight. For years, budgets have used accounting tricks to hide the real costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Bush tax cuts, and too many other programs. Obama’ s budget gets rid of the smokescreens and lays out what America’s priorities are, what they cost, and how we’re going to pay for them

Personal edit: I still don’t know what Obama’ s plan is for the building industry. I think it’s too late for us to get any kind of bail out or assistance. Today, was a sad day watching my husband dig for loose change just so he could have some lunch money.
I don’t trust him, at all, to lift this country up.

Things are so bad (economy). Breaks my heart too, thinking of hubby digging for change. Ugh. RYN: Oh honey, you should treat yourself. Feels fabulous…pure decadence. The gal today kneeded my fat in the most delicious way. LOL.

The only thing I don’t like about this is the tax cuts. I know most people don’t agree with me here but this is why I don’t like thm. When the Federal gov’t cuts taxes it also cuts state aid. Usually at least a 2:1 ratio. So that extra $20 that I bring home in my paycheck will amount to at least an extra $2000 in increased property and sales taxes. I say keep the tax cut money on the federal end so I don’t end up going broke on my end.

Well, I believe in Obama. He hasn’t said or done a single thing (accept approve more bail outs for stupid mismananaged companies) that I don’t agree with. Sorry your personal financial situation is so bad. I hope things improve soon for you!

I used to think we should raise income taxes on business until I started thinking about the fact that I wouldn’t want to try to make more money to pay it in taxes so why not lay off a few workers, keep me under the higher tax limit, maybe have more profit for me with fewer workers. Now if we could do the congressmen the same way the want to do to business CEOs and curb their tax money spending wecould maybe put a dent in the debt. Cut out the perks to congress and to the president. I’ve thought this for a couple of decades so that isn’t aimed at just the present president. If they want to entertain, let it come out of the money we pay them. Time will only tell what is really going to happen.
