FLEA CIRCUS

Oh Dear Lord,

I have discovered that my dog Marely and my cat Mittens both have fleas. I’m absolutely going bonkers-ape shit and stir crazy with all this itching going on around here. I hot trotted to the vet and bought the ever trusting Frontline. The man of the house quickly applied the treatment to Marley’s and Mitten’s shoulder blade area. I could sleep better at night knowing that the fleas would be dead in minutes.

Not so fast

Still have fleas. The dog and cat are m.i.s.e.r.a.b.l.e

Applied a second treatment of Frontline in hopes the second go around would work. Maybe he didn’t apply the med correctly? This time we shaved the shoulder blade area to make sure the med was applied correctly.

Not so fast

Still have fleas.

This product has always worked to kill the fleas but from what my vet told me that this year there has been a sharp rise in fleas. While waiting in line to get my refund from the frontline manufacture(they garuntee that their products works) I noticed that many people were waiting in line behind me.

They were just as freaked out as me and needed help with fighting Mrs flea and her babies.

Just to let you know that fleas really freak me out especially when they jump around damn these fleas –off with your head.

I decided to get on the internet and learn more about my enemy number one Mrs. Flea.

I need to arm myself with knowledge

I learned that a newly hatched female flea will begin laying eggs within 2 hours of taking her first blood meal, and may lay up to 50 eggs a day! Because the life cycle of the flea is only 28 days. You can imagine how fast an infestation can occur.

I learned that Marley and Mittens have 1% to 5% of fleas on them at any given time and the 95% -99% in various stages are in the enivronment–our cabin

I went back to my vet today and a received another box of Frontline but was instructed to not apply a third go around but to wait another month. In the meantime, The vet had me buy a can of KNOCK OUT.($23.00) This product is to be sprayed on carpet furniture, under the furniture. I must vacuum every day.

So,I decided to take Marley To U Dirty dog Groomers. The tec was able to pull off 50 fleas and scrub marley really good. I paid $45.00. This flea fun is costing me a lot of money. Marley itched all the way home. Thinking maybe going to the store to buy some benedryl capsules to help with the itching.

Stay tuned.

Writing about all this itching is really making me itch and squimming in my seat.

flea powder works

The flea treatments will work now. Don’t worry. I sprayed our house about two years ago and we have no fleas anymore.

I hate fleas as well so if course your picture at the end freaked me out. Almost everyone I know on this site that has cats, dogs or both has had a problem this year even with the Frontline. The flea bath at the groomers should help. Hopefully the problem clears up soon.

Every time I see my cat (who sleeps with me) scratch I think about fleas. I hope you get them all this time around.

Years ago I had a cat that got my house infested with fleas. It was weird. They just seemed to be there in droves overnight. I got rid of them by bringing the cat to a groomer to be flea dipped and setting off several cannisters of bug fogger stuff in the house. We had to stay at a hotel overnight with the kids and board the cats at the groomer. Then had to wipe everything down to get rid of the chemicals. But the fleas were gone. It was worth it.

I so sympathize… With four dogs and three cats I am totally paranoid about fleas!!!
