CAMPING PICS
A CAMPING WE SHALL GO …A CAMPING WE SHALL GO…HI HO THE MERRY OH …A CAMPING WE SHALL GO
AND CAMPING WE DID!
I couldn’t wait to get the heck out of dodge and head for the hills. I wanted to get dirt under my fake nails, I wanted to make a huge fire for my Dad, I wanted to lose myself in the smells of the outdoors in the sticks
We picked up our Fleetwood Wilderness trailer; (she was in storage) on Thursday. I left work early on Friday to spend time cleaning her spec and span. I have a special kinship with this charming 24 ft trailer and to think I once had an inkling to trade her in for a Fifth Wheel. What was I thinking. BB filled her up with 50 gallons of water, I filled the cupboards with $275.00 of food; Hot dogs, chicken, rib eye steak, junk food –more junk food, lots of fruit to counter balance the junk food, adult beverages, 24 bottles of water, a ton of food.
We decided to venture over the rolling hills to make camp at Buck Creek. This is a more rustic camp ground, no power hook up, no wanna be campers from the city. There is a small outhouse facility, but after Kev described it as a house of horrors, I opted out of doing my business there-will stick with the trailer potty.
I love my little kitchen in this trailer, such a cozy dining area. I’m sitting here drinking my Pete’s Coffee, happy as a June Bug. The stove and fridge can run on gas or electric. We used our generator to power everything. Sami and I had fun making cookies and muffins in the tiny little oven. God, did I eat a lot! I brought dvds, the game of Life, Uno–now how can you go camping without UNO!! Sami cheats when I call her on it, she starts to pout. Is it really worth all the fuss. I don’t like poor losers. So we usually have to start the game over again to appease her temper.
Damn! that river was cold as hell as I ever so slowing inch myself into the deeper end to dunk myself and cleanse the dirt from my bod. Sorry no pic of me, I was making really ugly faces to the camera–I should have just ran into the river and got it over with but no –I have to torture myself.
BB looks like he is just “chilling” in this freezing water.
Once out of the river, let me tell you it was so invigorating to lay in my recliner chair and let the sun kiss my skin. My entire body was tingling and soaking up the early sun.
We hiked high into the hills on a very rugged trail up to Doe falls-only a 2.5 mile hike–piece of cake for me but Sami was having a difficult time so we had to turn back. I will go back again some day and hike the full 8 miles. I’m sure the falls are picture perfect. Too bad I don’t have a pic to place here of the falls.
This camp ground allowed off road vehicles, the kids had fun riding their quads all over the place. The noise, the DIRT! not your typical camp ground. The noise continued until the sun went down and then at that moment I thought I had a reprieve form the noise—but No—this was only the beginning of the noise. It was party time for all these youngsters with their make shift tents and huge bonfires–it’s party time.
I’m getting old

Great pics and sounds like you had a good time, albeit, maybe a little noisy. Didn’t get to go camping myself…long story…but did get away on a couple of drives and a picnic so it was all okay.

ryn: Oh, no! I can’t hear that my dad is ‘yummy’! Haha, just kidding. He and mom got divorced a couple of years ago, and he was damn sure that he’d make the best of it. Started working out, tanning, bought a sports car…. Yep, it’s definitely a mid-life crisis. Ah, well. Gotta love him. 🙂

It looks like you guys had a blast camping! How fun!

i wanna go camping! fun! ryn: my ferrets are not that lovable (cuddly). mostly hyper and into everything. cuter then the dickens, though! i’ve seen other people with ferrets that are cuddly sweet. i don’t know what makes the difference. and remember, ferrets (even descented ferrets) have a strong odor. even with regular cleaning, they smell ferrety.

I love this! You sound so playful. But I have to ask…….did you take Goldie with you? How is the poor fishy?

How’d I miss this entry? You are really pretty! Your profile pic up there is too small for mine eyes, I figured you looked pretty but I can really see it in this entry. Your dogs are adorable, I love rottweilers.. so cuddly and not at all what most people think. You have such a cute family.

this sounds like such an adventure and one that’s right up my alley. i’m thrilled you illustrated the entry.

love your new front page pic. ryn, i taught the kiddos how to help customers calling for roadside-assistance related needs. (flat tires, locked out of the car, jump starts, etc). It’s not exactly saving lives, but it’s scary for them all the same.
