SWIM* BIKE* RUN

My sister, Charleen, will be competing in the IRONMAN at Whistler, Canada. I’m so proud of her. She has always been the athlete of the family. In the Ironman Competition , you swim, bike and run. It has taken her an entire year of training to be able to accomplish her dreams and goals.

I really wanted to go to Canada and see my sister compete but unfortunately my passport was expired. I didn’t realize that a passport has an expiration date. It was too late for me to get an updated passport and the cost of an expedited passport would be almost $200. I feel so crappy about not being responsible enough to get the extended passport ahead a time. Stupid! It’s my own fault.

I would have loved to see her at the finish line with her hands held up high. I will have to talk her into another triathlon next year. Many members of my family are in Canada right now in preparation for race day.

Whistler Village will be alive with excitement with all the triathletes partying and celebrating and of course preparing for the race. I’m sure my family will be taking pictures and videos. So at least I will be able to enjoy all the facebook updates.

So, tonight I will sit and lick my wounds. Husband is cooking RIBEYE steaks tonight out side on our outdoor fire pit. Yum!

edit: For those who don’t know what an Ironman is, it’s a 2.4 mile swim a 112 mile bike ride, and then finish it off with a full marathon 26.2 miles.

I hope Charleen does really well in the competition. And I bet the steaks were good.
