all about packages.
Josh called me seven times within an hour this morning. I missed all the calls because I was at work, and didn’t have my phone on me. I sent him a text message letting him know I was working, sorry that I missed his calls, was everything ok, etc. He called me again at 11:37, so I took my lunch at 11:50, and texted him to tell him I was on my lunch. (I can text him, but I don’t have international calling on my cell) I was starting to get worried that something was wrong.
He called me back a few minutes later, and immediately I questioned if everything was okay.
Everything was fine. "I just wanted to talk to you before I went to bed, and thank you for the package…"
Apparently all the guys in his squad loved all the junk food I sent. And he was pretty happy to have received it, too.
And it only took 6 days to get there! I’m impressed.
We had a really good conversation. It was like talking to my Josh again. He was very connected to the conversation, was supportive about some stuff I’m going through and it surprised me that he was so appreciative of the package. I was worried he wouldn’t like it, or he’d be embarrassed by the decorations. In all fairness, I did warn him ahead of time.
He even asked if the boys had forgotten about him. It was sad the way he asked about it. They haven’t forgotten about him, of course. We talk about him all the time. And I was actually in the process of recording videos from them to him to put in one of my up-coming packages.
I’m really entirely too obsessed with packages.
See? Look. These are the recent ones…
This is the package I sent on Tuesday.
It was a much healthier package than the previous.
It included protein bars, healthy snacks, his vitamins, some hygeine stuff, snacks, "His Needs, Her Needs" book… and probably a few other things that I can’t remember. I’m pretty amazed at how much I can cram into one of these flat rate boxes.
And, this is the box that I’m sending off within the next few days…
I’ve got that packed with House season 2, some microwavable food, snacks, benedryl (per his request), etc. etc.
The "theme" was taken from this music video. And I’ll be burning a CD with that song, along with others that fit our situation right now.
And… I totally have the next like… 5 packages planned. LOL I’m going to try to make them less "sappy", cause the first three have been mushy.
I’m really pathetic. But this is seriously therapeutic for me.
I’m going to have Gabe and Xavier paint the inside of two boxes. And those will include burned videos from the kids to Josh, little items the kids want to include, pictures, and misc. snacky stuff.
I’ll also be doing a football theme one fairly soon. Maybe I’ll do that next, because of the 3 "mushy" ones in a row…
An I "woof" you package, from the dogs.
And, of course, Halloween.
And a "congratulations" box after I have Xavier Mason (rofl).
And an Arizona themed box, when I’m down in Glendale visiting my mom and sister in November.
Yes, I am certifiably nuts.
