Photos and other things…
I think I mentioned that I finally got around to painting my bathroom, which is just the start of things that I need want to do around the house. It’s actually been kind of motivating because it’s now the nicest room in the house thanks to a few purchases-I bought a new shower curtain (as well as a new rod and some rings to boot) and some little things, like a set of hooks for the back of the door. As well as a little decorative shelf with yet more hooks (the counter is literally 18 inches long so there’s NO space in this bathroom) and some candle holders that I used as planters for some succulents I bought on clearance that needed to be re-potted.
This is supposed to be our guest bath, but it’s the one we use for Vivien AND since our master bath is little more than a small stall style shower and pedestal sink with a toilet in a closet sized room this is also the room where I do my hair and make-up. So things like hooks for towels will make a difference.
Here’s the little shelf…you can see the paint and a bit of the tile. The tile is now a blue grey color and for something that went up on the walls and floor in 1954 is in amazing shape. I picked out a very very pale green colour for the walls I wanted something not white as it looks dingy after a while, but I didn’t want a lot of colour because of all the tile. This was a great choice I think. The tile wraps around about 60% of the bathroom and extends to the floor as well. This is why it was the first room to paint as technically it had the smallest amount of wall space to cover. The little shelf is so high up because it’s above an old built in gas heater (which I also repainted as it’s white enamel and needed a fresh coat and a good cleaning) which isn’t hooked up or something we use but I didn’t like the idea of towels dangling into it so the hooks are pretty high on the wall.
The little picture is something I cross stitched a few years back and has been hanging on the wall. The other stuff is just random things I had that I thought would look nice. The shells are something I bought in Cozumel for a song (seriously bargained the guy down from $50 for one to $30 for two, because you shouldn’t try to sell people sitting on the beach stuff and just expect to clean up because they don’t know better.) I want to hang it in the corner there by the shower I think. I don’t like it on the hooks as it prevents them from being used as hooks.
And the candle holders turned into planters…
My Dad hung them and we carefully measured to make sure they were even and straight only to find out that the iron isn’t identical and one glass container sits higher than the other, and the curls on another are in different spots. So I guess checking for that sort of thing is important when buying cheap decorative stuff at Hobby Lobby.
Here’s a neat picture of my Dad and Vivien from a few weeks ago. He’s a truck driver and from time to time finds himself in Dallas for a day or so. It’s nice to get a little extra time without having to drive down to the coast to see him.
My Dad was showing Vivien how to properly eat Oreo cookies.
Officer finally got the chance to change his schedule. While not in stone or a sure thing MOST weeks from now on he’ll be home Sundays and Mondays which means we get a real family day!! It’s been so much fun. Last Sunday afternoon I looked up from my cross stitching to see this…
So I ran outside to take some pictures.
She loves that car. This weekend we were able to (not because of size-she just didn’t seem to understand what to do the first month or so we had this) take out the "floorboard" so she can use her feet to move around Fred Flintstone style. I didn’t realize that they made this car in a smaller size, I only thought it came with pedal like things but this one I guess is for younger toddlers. She’s pretty tall though so it won’t be too long before she’s outgrown this. I saw on Pinterest where you can repaint these, which given how spray paint works seems legit. I might start checking on Craigslist and yard sales for the big one and clean it up.
This Sunday morning it was too chilly to go outside, so thinking we were brilliant we brought the car into the sunroom. Then we couldn’t get her out of it. So we played drive in theatre (and Sonic Drive In and a few other things) until naptime when we could put the car back in the shed and start the new "No Cars in the house" rule, which you’d think wouldn’t need to be done but then again…
Also she’s really into her coat right now. Refuses to take it off once it’s on. So I have to hide it because if she see’s it she wants it.
Toddlers are fun!!
Also fun…in that photo you can see her new favorite shoes…Twinkle Toes by Sketchers. I didn’t realize they made them that small but they do and she loves them!! For those that don’t know they are shoes that light up, but unlike other kinds the lights are in the front so the kid can see them easily. The white part on the top of the toe is studded and some of the studs are little purple lights. They really are cute.
I think that’s it. I got a skin to go on my Chromebook, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE by the way. I think if Internet, simple games, and general browsing were your only things you did with a computer this could easily be a workable computer replacement. It’s the BEST marriage of a table and laptop without buying a tablet with a case that has a keyboard in it. It’s bigger than an iPad in size but actually lighter too so that’s been nice as I can barely tell it’s in my work bag. The battery life is excellent too! Plus unlike a lot of tablets this has a few USB ports as well as an HDMI port so you could use it with an external drive or whatever. Anyways…really loving this new toy of mine that lets me do what I want when I need to!! I’m so happy with it, especially since it’s a fraction of the cost of the Macbook Air I’ve had my eye on! And now it’s pretty!

I get all my skins (seriously if I own an electronic device I have a skin on it) from Decalgirl.com. I prefer that site because you can get most of the patterns available for most phones, laptops e-readers etc. But they offer a matte finish and every one of the skins comes off easily and leaves no stickiness behind. I tend to switch out the one on my phone almost quarterly so that’s an important feature to me.
I don’t do it for protection as these aren’t a case, but they will prevent scratches. I like them because they are pretty and I hate cases.
Actually cases for most devices are pretty much only needed if you want to resell a device. I’ve seen a LOT of damaged phones that were in some pricey cases made to protect/prevent damage. Buy the protection plan/warranty etc and be careful with your phone…but don’t count on a case to protect it 100%. Just my two cents as someone who works in the handset department of a cell phone company 🙂
I think that’s all I’ve got….have a good day!!
Love the color! I thought about doing something in a very very light blue in the boys bathroom but the first color I picked up just looked like toothpaste on the wall :-/

I don’t know if all kids are just the same or what but seriously, V sounds like my girls. Evelyn LOVES twinkle toes and Sariah has a pony disney thing MIL got her that she drags/rides all over the house. If only I could put that thing outside but its ‘furry’ so it has to stay inside for me to trip over. Every. Day.
