Books
We’re about to cut the cable cord at home now that we’ve got internet working on our Blu-Ray player and can stream Hulu+ etc, etc, etc and rarely if ever actually watch live TV anymore. So I’ve been reading a little more than often.
I just finished the last (I’m not sure if it’s the last for now, or the last in the series) of a neat end of the world style series off books I found on Amazon. The first one (at least, probably more) is free today on the Kindle store so I thought I’d mention it here since many people are also avid readers like me…it’s called Wool. There are 8 right now and you can buy 1-5 in an "Omnibus" set for about $6 and then 6,7 & 8 in another "Omnibus" set for about $6.
About the books though, the first focus on specific people who live in an underground silo that houses a city that functions totally on it’s own. It’s clear that "Something" has happened at some point in the past but it’s not really known what happened. Books 1-5 deal with the plight of a few people determined to understand exactly what they are doing there and uncover the mystery of not only their silo…but understand if they are alone or or if there are others out there. It’s a pretty good read! Books 6-8 are prequels that go back into the history of what happened and how the silos came to be.
I really enjoyed the series.
I also re-read what’s become a favourite of mine….11/22/63 by Stephen King. This is one of those times when you see that Stephen King is actually a talented story teller and not just a writer of good scary stories. This book spends about 90% of the time building an intricate characters and a story that really pulls you in. At least it did for me anyways.
I’m going to go through a few reading lists this weekend and pick out a few more books to work through this month. If anyone has some recommendations, please let me know!
