April
I can’t say for sure if this is my first entry of the month and can’t be bothered to go check but here it is April already.
I’m seeing hints of Spring although our weather hasn’t been typical at all. At least it’s been in the 70’s the last three or four days and hopefully we can say "Good-bye" to our coats and jackets for once and for all. Which means I can say "Hello!" to the return of biweekly budget line item that allows for a pedicure as I refuse to wear sandals or flip flops without well groomed feet. So it’s kind of a blessing and a curse depending on how you look at it.
The weather has been lovely though. After work on Friday I picked up a $5 pizza and Vivien and I spent the evening blowing bubbles on the patio. She can say "Bubbles" now, only it’s more like "Bubbos" but cute as a button! While blowing bubbles she spilled the container and asked for a rag to clean it up! I need to put her to work soon I think!!
This has been my drink of choice the last few weeks. Also the older I get the more coffee I need. That’s a shame.
I stumbled across it on Amazon and I can’t remember if I mentioned that here yet or not. But it’s good. So good in fact that I bought a can for my Dad for Easter.
I’m currently reading:
And by currently I mean I started last night. I mentioned in passing that Vivien started the Terrible Two’s already to a co-worker and he suggested this book. For the record there hasn’t been anything that I can’t handle, or would say is troubling at all. But I can totally see potential for it. And I had a bit of a problem controlling her at during a mild meltdown in public last week so it’s time. We’ve been using a Time Out system for a few months and it’s helpful. But obviously I can’t put her in time out in public so we need to deal with the actual behaviour before it becomes habit I think.
I hope anyways.
Also I need to remember to check the Library before buying books. This one was so old it was cheaper on Kindle than in paper. But then again maybe I’ll want it as a reference later on.
Other than that….we’re going strong with a family outing on Sundays ever since Officer moved his schedule around to have a day off with us. Yesterday was the Aquarium as we’ve got a seasons pass.
This time we left the stroller in the car as it’s a pretty small space, and the walk between the parking lot and Aquarium isn’t too bad. Well further than I’d want to carry her but that’s what Daddy’s are for, right?
She seemed to really enjoy the freedom and chatted the whole afternoon.
These golden curls are killing me lately…
And finally…while in front of the sharks we realized Vivien wasn’t just babbling and was indeed saying "Sharks" but it comes out "Shawck". Only it sounds kinda Southern. Which made me realize that she will probably have a Southern accent even though Officer grew up in Michigan and Seattle and I mostly in Canada. I guess that’s just the way it’s going to be.
Either way, we get the feeling that she’s talking (actually talking and not just babble) at school way more than at home. Not sure if I need to do something about that, or if that’s just how it is though. We have been encouraging her to tell us more and more stuff instead of using sign language, even if we know the sign she’s using and right now she doesn’t seem frustrated by that. Sometimes she’ll just march off and show us what she’s trying to say but that’s ok too. I guess that’s probably the right thing to do for now.
That’s about it, I need to get back to work…Happy Monday!!
I will probably wind up reading Toddlerwise once I feel Wes starting in on the tantrums, since I had such success with the Babywise stuff. Let me know how you like that book once you finish it, yeah? I saw you on the front page but you weren’t bolded on my favorites list. I hate it when that happens!

I miss Tim Horton’s coffee! I’m from Canada and now living in the US, so only get it occasionally when a friend travels up to see her family. It is good stuff! 🙂
