Vivien has had something of a language explosion over the past few weeks.

My mother was here the week after the 4th and one morning she asked her
"Vivien do you want me to make you an egg"  to which Vivien replied "YEA!" but then narrowed her eyes and said "This time."

She’s been doing that a lot, narrowing her eyes or making an odd face.  It’s hilarious.  Like this one, she was giggling until she saw the camera:

We went to Galveston for the holiday weekend and managed to squeeze in a trip to a little zoo that gives all children (under 90 pounds) a free horse ride.  We weren’t really sure if she would be ok with it.  She really was hesitant about getting close to most animals but something about the horse made her nod right away just as soon as I asked her so we put her on.

She stayed fairly serious and focused like that but she held on and kinda freaked out when I put my hand on her so I just walked along side.  Super proud!!

We also saw fireworks for the first time, and my not yet two year old clapped and cheered the whole time!

And the last first we did that weekend was wake up early (well normal time) and head to the beach.  We were probably there before 9am and it was already over 90 but super nice!

She didn’t want anything to do with the water but LOVED the sand.  That works for me.  She didn’t do too well at all in swimming lessons but we’re going to keep swimming throughout the summer when possible.  I don’t want her to be afraid of it so we’re going to keep at it.

We left the island right around noon but were amazed at the amount of traffic headed onto the island.  It was kind of nice though, but really it was backed up over the causeway.  It’s a great boost to the island as tourist traffic like that really are the bones of the economy there and since the hurricane 5 years ago it’s been rough going.  I guess it’s back now!

And now…we’re planning Vivien’s 2nd birthday party!  I’m reusing the Hello Kitty cake pan since those character pans are pretty much idiot proof and taste SOOOOO good.  It’s a small cake pan, last year I made white cake and chocolate cupcakes.  I’m thinking this year of making the white cake again but having a few other desserts available instead of the cupcakes.  I saw a neat Pin for some mini cheesecakes.  I’ll also make some rice krispies, and maybe two more-but things I can do a few days before. I saw a really neat Pin with cherries covered in cake and then chocolate. And since I’m thinking about such a dessert heavy menu and that it’s an afternoon party I was thinking about cheese, crackers and maybe a little nacho station?  I’m not sure yet.

I decided not to bother with inviting her classmates. They offer a special lunch with cupcakes at her school so I’m going to make up goody bags to take there and that’s enough I think.  So far the bags will contain some fruit snacks, some bubbles and I’m looking for a third item. I saw some small tops at the party store so that might be fun.

Work wise, if anyone is keeping track.  Officially I still work for MetroPCS since that’s what’s on my paycheck but integration is in full swing so maybe I’ll know more by the end of the month.

And that’s about that.
