Tonight was Vivien’s first swimming lesson.

She had a freak out a few weeks ago when we went swimming so I wasn’t looking forward to it at all. But since it was non refundable I went ahead with it.

She cried for the first 8 min or so.  Maybe it was 5. And maybe it was 10 who can say.  The teenagers teaching the class were so great though!  They encouraged me to go off to the side with her but to keep her in the water saying she’d probably calm down halfway through, and if not tomorrow would be easier.  Vivien was one of 3 kids screaming so we were in company.  But after what seemed like an eternity she stopped and let me pull her around the pool while she held on really tightly. By the end of the class she was kicking her legs and giggling. As we swam around a bit I said "We’re swimming Vivi!!" and she laughed and said "I like it"!  Progress.  Let’s hope tomorrow goes just as well.

But maybe without the crying and screaming.

I have to say it was super nice to work all day, take a swim and come home and relax.  Makes me regret not holding out for a house with a pool a few years ago!

This weekend we went back to the Aquarium, we go fairly frequently-about every two weeks. We actually got there fairly early and had a little more fun than normal.  The sting ray’s were hungry so when they saw us they freaked out and splashed us pretty hard.  We were all soaked-and smelling kinda fishy afterwards.

It was also the first time Vivien actually tried to reach into the touch tanks (not where they sting ray are, the sting ray are in a huge tank) and played with some of the rocks. She wouldn’t touch anything other than a rock.

In other news Officer figured out that if he takes the battery out of the controller he "and" Vivien can play video games for a period of time longer than 3 seconds.  So he’s happy.

And…this weekend I spent $13 and about 15 min and did this to my bathroom cabinet:

Our master bathroom has just a pedestal sink and shower only so no counter space.  The spare bath has only a 13 inch counter but decent counter space.  I copied this layout the next weekend in another cabinet and now I have not one…but three empty shelves! Imagine!  I also got a drawer organizer and now my makeup looks nice and neat and not a crazy mess.  Also….I can get ready in about 15 min. So no more digging around and huffing that I can’t find anything.

Which got me thinking that perhaps my storage issue in my teeny kitchen is less space oriented and more poor organization.  So….I think I’m headed to the Container Store and or Ikea to figure it out!!

I think that’s it for tonight…I’m off to watch Mad Men!

Seriously I have that same organizer for my makeup. I’ve almost outgrown it though. shaaaaaaaame. But it really helps keep things organized so I can find what I need.
