It’s been over a week since the merger and things at work are just off still.  I imagine it will be a while before they are normal.  In about 30 days we’ll start getting word about specifics on who’s staying, moving or going.  Ugh. 30 days.

I selected a neat Father’s Day gift for Officer. He’s going to be going to a Navy training in August for 3 months so I wanted something a little special, but obviously portable.  This will do nicely:

It will be similar to this, but not exact.  His will have a hole with a jump ring so he can wear it as a necklace or pin it inside a pocket like he did with his medals when he was a Police Officer.  Religious medals, not service.  Obviously he wears service related medals on his uniform.  His will also be my finger print and Vivien’s palm print.  Young children don’t have "good" finger prints for this sort of thing apparently.  The printing kit came yesterday and we sent it off this morning.  I’m really excited about this!!

Yesterday there was a "Muffins for Mom" breakfast at Vivien’s school.  Officer drops her off each day but I came shortly afterwards.  She greeted me with these:

The "flowers" are little tracings of her hands wrapped around a pipe cleaner stem with a little pom pom as the center.  It is just too cute.

Today we had her first classmate birthday party.  If that makes sense but it was the first non-family, non-family friend birthday party.  I was pleased that the girls that I think are her closest friends were there, because I had to go alone and I really didn’t want to make small talk AND keep encouraging Vivien to go play.

But that was a moot point as there was a bounce house and Vivien wasn’t comfortable in there alone so in I went. Nothing like that sort of ice breaker.  I was able to chat it up with the two other moms in there with Vivien’s friends.

It was a good day today. 🙂
