Life is an Adventure

Dear Diary,

Oh where do I begin?  Some random chatter to perhaps fill in the past month.

  • We’re back in the house. Amazingly, the new painter came in with his crew of 6 and in 2 days repainted all the trim, and RE-painted one bedroom completely, 3 walls of the master bedroom, repaired and repainted wall in the third bedroom and applied another sealant on the cabinets.  Too bad he couldn’t do some more with the cabinets.  They are pretty but I have a feeling if this guy had done it from the beginning, they would have been spectacular!
  • Moving back in is as bad as the moving out – only this time everything has to be washed  first. I wish I knew how things got so dusty packed in boxes and how is it that boxes can multiply??
  • Having fun purchasing new curtains and other “stuff” for the house. I really want to recover the sofa and purchase 2 area rugs and a new dining set. But will have to wait on that since the “money tree” is not blooming at this time.
  • I’m making subtle changes as I put things back “in place” and am really trying to hold fast to the thought of “if we don’t need it or absolutely love it, then it doesn’t come back in”. In 27 years one collects a lot of stuff.
  • While we moved out for several weeks and stayed with auntie Rosa, I got hooked on HGTV and TLC..and saw way too many design shows.  Looking at things with a different eye these days and am enjoying it for the most part.
  • Have been fascinated with the theories of feng shui for several years and have tried to use it in planning colors for the rooms and palcement of furniture. That’s going okay as long as I don’t have to explain it to hubby. This man of logic and reasoning can actually roll his eyes at me sometimes…cute!
  • Back in Feburary, soon after the remodel was started, hubby and I were at a home and garden show, gathering ideas, and came across a booth with information that I knew in my heart of hearts I wanted to do. It was actually the third time  since July ’02 that I saw the information but the first time for hubby. It was about a direct sales company that only opened in January ’01 and has shown amazing growth. The man of logic and reasoning was so impressed that he said to me, “I think you should do this. I think you would be good at this.”  I tried to keep from falling over as I signed up for more info.  More to come in another entry about my new business.
  • I’m subbing all week for the same teacher – in the third grade!! In another lifetime I must have been a third grade teacher.  It’s been so much fun and I’ve had so much joy with this age group.  I’m also aware that problems can come early to kids so very young.
  • I’m dealing with some heart troubling issues right now.  Couseling was sought and begun for all of us and I think we are on the right track. The counselor is very laid back and easy to visit with.  One of his comments to us was that he was surprised that NO ONE suggested counseling  to us after the accident 7 years ago and the effects that a trauma of that magnitude could have on a person and the family. I first came to OD to write about that trauma – 2 years after the fact – when I was dealing with the death of my daddy.  I ended up reading more than writing and lost those entries.  It will probably be helpful for me to re-write those entries. His comment on trauma made me realize that my youngest has dealt with trauma since the day he was born.  I think I will post those thoughts in another entry as well.  At any rate, I pray that he will be able to give us some guidance. I have hope for that.

Guess that’s about it for an update.  I know every day that …

…life is an adventure.
