Just Another Day

Dear Diary,

So much has been going on. I suppose it would have been a good idea to record the remodeling adventure we started the first of February. But that didn’t occur to me. Between all the packing and moving of stuff from one room to another or out to the storage barn I just didn’t think to write.  We have tried to stay in one side of the house – 2 bedrooms and 1 bath for the 3 of us. Even though the refrigerator has stayed plugged in and we have the microwave available, it’s just not very pleasant to eat in bed admist the dust. I never thought I would tire of eating out. I never thought I would say that I miss cooking.  But that’s what I’m feeling now. I can’t wait to prepare  a meal in my new kitchen!!!

The family room-dining room is going to be wonderful. I love the French doors at the end of the room that go out to the patio. It is the most important part of the remodel for me because it was “my dream” to have it that way. Everything is open and inviting.  The office is now a room to itself and I love that. It’s right off the kitchen in the front of the house with a pocket door to close it off. Privacy will be good when it’s needed and no  one will see the paper mess that just naturally occurs. Today the guys are here to stain the kitchen cabinets. Once that’s done they will start on painting that side of the house. Then the ceramic tile will be laid, followed by the laminate flooring in the family-dining area and hall. We’ll do some more moving of furniture so they can get into the bedrooms to paint and lay new carpet. For the most part, I’ve been pretty patient with everything. So has hubby and son. I really miss not having my washing machine and dryer hooked up. That’s been the hardest and it seems like we have gone through clothes and towels at an unbelievable pace.  Maybe I didn’t realize that I kept up with washing during the week.  This once a week stuff is crappy. We will move out to my aunt’s house when the painting starts in full gear. No way I’m sleeping in paint fumes.

Lisa leaves Thursday for Hawaii.  I won’t get to see her before she leaves.  I waited until this week and it’s just too busy for her.  She’s taking care of last minute things before she leaves for 3 weeks. Jason is in India and soon to return to Thailand before he makes his way home.  I hope he’s been able to enjoy part of this trip.  It’s business for him and he so intense about it that sometimes he forgets to relax. They both will be home by the end of March.

Guess I need to get back to cleaning out the closet. Mija and Solomon are coming to “rescue” me this afternoon.

Maybe with their visit it won’t be….

…just another day.

I totally agree with my good friend M.A. up there at the top. I don’t know how you’ve been doing that for so long. You must be a very laid back, and patient person. Hang in there, baby. It will be all over before you know it! 🙂 Best to you!

I know this is so hard to live out of just a couple of rooms. Keep hanging on. It will all fall into place really soon, I hope. Good luck. 🙂
