An email that I sent earlier today to my first born ….

About this time – in Texas – 31 years ago – I was preparing for the biggest adventure of my life time. I was getting ready to be a mother.  A little over 5 hours from now (12 noon) you made your entrance into the world..and into my heart – forever!!!!   Happy Birthday J—-!   I hope you are enjoying your day.  Take care of yourself. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Germany. If you run into anyone named B——-, B—-,  E—, or K— be nice to them as they may be related to you!

My son has birthday today…and he’s spending it in Germany.

I went out tonight with my sister and some friends from her school.  That was fun! I had not seen the friends in months. Two of them are teachers that would request me for their sub if they had to be out.  We enjoyed a couple of beers, some appetizers, and good gossip among friends.  When I came in there was a message on the answering machine. J had called!  He was so excited. He had a ticket to the Brazil/Ghanda game…second row in the Brazil section behind the goal when they made their second goal.  He was where he wanted to be. I could tell in his voice that he is "caught up" in the World Cup excitement.  I’m so sorry I missed his call.

Thirty one years ago I had no idea where my adventures in parenting would take me. Ups and downs, joys and disappointments, love beyond measure and tested a time or two…for all of us in this family on this journey.

Thirty one years ago he made his entrance into this world…and into my heart…

…forever.
