Update on the rescue situation
I just got back from visiting the parrots. They admitted today that they never let the grey out of his cage…he can’t even spread his wings in the cage its too small….they said he only gets out when I visit. He attacks them and even freaks with a perch and won’t get on it. I go a few times a week…now that I know I’ll make sure to take him out when I first arrive and put him back right before I leave. He had some pin feathers he wanted popped so I did that for him. For those without birds…pin feathers..their new feathers come in wrapped in a white sheath…they can be itchy and tender and drive the birds nuts when they can’t reach them. So I popped them on the back of his neck. He insisted.
The cockatoo was quiet today but bobbed her head for me and wanted her head and feet rubbed. Odd I thought about the feet but whatever she wants is okay with me. I told her I loved her and she bobbed her head.
The yellow naped that belongs to the store right away said, “back”…I was like yeah get use to it and he laughed. The hawkhead was a real talker today too. A family turned her in and forgot to leave the birds name.
The grey said hello to me today..he has a really deep voice. The cockatoo just bounces when she sees me now. Donations have slowed down…please help spread the word if you can. After a vet check…these two will love the freedom they will have here. Doors on their cage open all day.
I stayed a little longer today since I was told the grey is never out except with me…he needed the freedom. I usually visit fifteen minutes..today I stayed forty five minutes. I’ll see them again probably on monday.
