Just before this year ends I’ll just write a short entry. On the 18th of October I returned to work at my old job selling tickets on a call centre. Besides working there, I didn’t have anything (really) better to do, which meant I indicated that I would be available for work fulltime. Having said that they didn’t think twice and scheduled me for work for the maximum amount of hours. I have to tell you that working fulltime on a call centre is not to be advised. In this case it got even worse as a result of flexible shifts. Sometimes working 2-10pm and sometimes 9-5pm. Over the week the schedule is flexible as well, which means that in one week you have your ‘weekend’ on Monday and Tuesday, and the week after on Saturday and Sunday. I worked 8 days in a row! Luckily I’m free today.
I quit the call centre and I’m starting a new job on Tuesday! I’m going to be a project manager for a translating agency. Matching texts to be translated to translators. It sounds good, and I very much hope that I will enjoy it and that I will be appreciated.
In order to start the year afresh I decided to have my hair cut. Normally I grab the scissors myself and just hack away. It’s cheaper, but not better. Usually I don’t like complete strangers touching my hair, but I had walked past a shop that had a certain appeal. I had earned some money by working full-time, which meant that I thought that I would give it a try some time. I walked in today, but they hadn’t time to help me immediately. We made an appointment for 3.30. At 3 they called me (yes, they did take the time to note down my phone number); they were running a bit late and if I could come a bit later. I think it was good quality service to call. At 3.45 I arrived. They washed and cut my hair, and I loved it. The atmosphere there is so very relaxed. Good music, nice environment. Not a cold barbershop where they seem to want to get rid of you as quickly as possible. Next to this atmosphere they also did a good job, although I’m not a very good judge. My fashion sense is not something to be relied on.
It cost me 40 Euros, which is a lot. I may return at this shop do. It felt great.
Happy new year to all.
Regards,
