Business English

My work provided me with the opportunity to take a course in Business English. It was given by a native English speaking colleague of mine in the form of a webinar. This means it was online with a headset and very interactive. This first of five sessions covered the difference between present simple and present continuous. As an MA in English language and Culture this of course was pretty easy, although the theoretical rules were something of which I could indeed use the reminder. It has been a couple of years since I have practiced and some of my knowledge had to be dug up from stored away far in my memory. Next to grammar this course covers practical tips on how to write formal business e-mails and how to conduct social conversation in networking situations, which is something I never learned explicitly on university. Being busy with learning and language has given me energy today. I cannot wait till next week for the second class.
