Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way.
Right so it has been an age since I wrote!!!!
I don’t know why really. Was feeling a bit down I guess. Also tired and busy! Slap on wrist – must write more often. Ok so where to start??? That is the problem when you leave it ages – you forget everything you have done! I guess it is easier to break down into sections.
School
So my baby has started school! Liam looks so so cute in his uniform. He started a few weeks ago now back at the start of September. He loved it for the first week but then the second week he decided he was done with it! Every morning for about 4 days we had tears screams and begging to be taken back home.! The teachers had to almost crowbar him off us – it was really hard. Once we left him though he seemed to settle fine. Very strange but I guess any new environment can be daunting when you are only 4. The last couple of weeks he has been absolutely fine though! Thank God – so I hope he has gotten over himself – seems that way touch wood.
Joe got into trouble again – about the same boy again!!!! ARGH so angry with him. This kid, Scott is so quiet and timid – I don’t think Joe knows how to handle it so he ends up being horrible to him. The first time I thought we had sorted it and it was fine for months but then a couple of weeks ago he got into trouble again for stopping Scott coming out of the wendy house. I spoke to him about it and he said that it was Ned’s idea and he went along with it. He said he thought it was a game but then Scott started crying and Joe said "Ned stop now " but Ned refused to stop. I don’t know if this is an exactly true version of events or not. Well we had a long serious talk and he lost all his treats and privileges for the weekend. We have not had any more trouble since so I am hoping he has learnt his lesson.
Lauren has been having issues with a couple of girls in her class. Lily and Phoebe have never really liked Lauren but it has never been an issue before. Well Lauren is in year 2/3 now and there are only 5 year 3 girls. Lauren, Lily Phoebe, Grace and Lanie. Well Grace has always been Lauren’s best friend ever. This year Lily and Phoebe have decided to befriend Grace. Grace basically dropped Lauren like a ton of bricks. The 3 girls were intentionally excluding her – like giving out stickers but not to her, and making secret clubs she could not join. One morning a few weeks ago I stood and watched them on the playground before school. Lily and Grace were arm in arm – they saw Phoebe and ran up throwing their arms around her. Lauren saw them and ran over shouting "Grace Grace" – All 3 girls turned and ran. Lauren followed – they kept running. It was heartbreaking as a mother to see. I saw Lily’s mum walking back so I had a word with her about it and just said "look it is making Lauren really upset, could you maybe have a little word with Lily?" and she said she would. This was on a Fri. On the Monday I went into school early and spoke to Lauren’s teacher about it. She was really understanding. Well since then things have kind of improved. Lauren still has issues with them sometimes. Sometimes they are quite nice to her sometimes not. Grace seems to be being nice to her again which is a bonus. She can’t stop Grace being friends with these other girls I guess. On Fri afternoon they were playing on the school field after school and Grace and Lily came over to me. They said "Lauren is making the "loser" sign at us" I said "ok let me come and sort it out". Lauren was in floods of tears – really upset. I asked her why and she said it was because they were going to tell the teacher on her (she hates being in trouble) – they said that they weren’t and were only telling me. I asked why she had done it and she said because they kept running away from her. (I felt like saying there are signs worse than loser I would like to give them but of course I didn’t). So I told her that she should not have made the sign. Then I asked the girls why they can’t all just play nicely together. They said they would. Grace then said "It’s Lily – she won’t go near Lauren I don’t know why" then she said "Look Lily I don’t mind touching Lauren" and she put her arm around Lauren’s shoulder. She tried getting Lily to do the same but Lily was shrinking back. I said "what’s the matter Lily?" but she just wouldn’t look at me. God know what her problem is – but hey ho! It is life lessons for Lauren I guess. She has made a couple of other friends which is good. She has got Sophie – the only problem is that she says these horrible girls try to take any friends she makes away from her. I will just monitor the situation. If it is just girls bickering then fine – Lauren has to learn to handle that – but if I think it is in any way bullying then I will have to take it further.
So yeah – a stressful start to the school year for all 3!
Work
So work! Well I have been fed up in Sainsburys for a good while now. Not sure if I have written much about it here. Well anyway the nights have been really getting me down. So sick of being knackered ALL the time. The managers are incompetent – they always do what is easy instead of what is right. They take the complete piss to be really honest. Also the job itself is mind numbingly boring. It does not motivate you, incentivise you or challenge you in any way! So I have been feeling very down about it – so tempted to just walk out but of course I can’t afford to do that. So about 3 weeks ago I was in the canteen and I said to Helena and Rose "One of 3 things is going to happen in the next month – 1) I will get a new job, 2) I will walk out of here or 3) I will end up complaining to HR)
Well a couple of weeks ago I got a bad chest infection. I went to work (cos they don’t pay sick pay) but was hanging. They put me in the chiller which made it worse. Well I felt awful. Sick, tired and completely cheesed off!!! I was with Chris’ mum talking about it on the Tues (I work Tues Weds and Sat nights) I was absolutely hanging – I said I might phone in sick for the Tues and the Weds. She said well if you do phone in then rest sure but don’t waste the two days. Do something positive by looking for a new job. So I decided that is what I would do.
So On the Tues night (25th Sept) I looked online and applied for a couple of jobs. On the Weds morning Direct Line contacted me to say they wanted to do a telephone interview. On the Fri morning I had the telephone interview and they scheduled a face to face interview. Last Tues just gone I had the face to face interview and on Weds they phone to say I got the job!!!!!!! In the mean time I had a couple of other interviews set up but I cancelled it cos this is the job I wanted.
SO yes – very exciting!!! I have a new job. I did think it would take longer but there you have it. where there’s a will there’s a way. So soon I will be a Pet Insurance Claims Advisor. It is full time – eeek! Mon – Fri 9-5. So lots to sort out. We have it more or less worked out. Chris has submitted a flexible working arrangement request form to his job to try to guarantee him a later start so he can drop the kids to school (he starts late sometimes anyway – this would just guarantee it) His boss thinks it should be fine so hope
fully it will be.
Chris’ mum and my mum say they will do the afternoons between them. It will take a while to sort out and I am going to have to be super organised but I think it is doable. Where there’s a will there’s a way!! I am so happy about my new job. It is similiar money to Sainsbury’s nightshift rate but without having to work smelly nights! I might actually get an opportunity to use my brain! Will have to dust it off first though! We will be better off financially because this is a full time role – that is presuming the childcare plans work out – if we have to start paying out for loads of childcare it will be a different story! I don’t have a start date yet cos they were recruiting up until yesterday and are then going to work it out.
I handed in my notice to Sainsburys on Weds night – wow that felt good!!!! my manager was very sweet about it actually. He said if I ever need a personal reference he would give me one. Everyone at work is in shock he he. They seem to think there is no life beyond Sainsburys. I have been saying about leaving for a while now so I don’t know why they are surprised. I think they thought it was all talk! Lesson number 1 – Sarah is NEVER all talk! hehehe. My last shift is 31st October (although I am gonna ask if they will release me earlier).
So all change! This feels like the next phase of our lives – kids all in school, both working properly etc etc. It is daunting but also exciting.
Christmas
It is coming too fast -I have bought nothing! ARGHHHHHHHHHH.
Real News
So it is terrible news in the papers at the moment about the little girl, April Jones going missing – well being abducted! Into the 6th day and no sign of her. They are now treating it as a murder investigation with a man arrested. It makes me feel sick in my stomach – it makes you hold your kids that bit closer! I pray for a miracle but needless to say it is not looking good.
Also revelations about Jimmy Saville – ew and ew – horrible dirty old man. I don’t even know what else to say. I used to really like Jim’ll Fix It. Hmm seems completely tainted now.
Well I guess that is enough to be going on with – will try to write more often!!!!
Kids can be cruel to each other sometimes! It gets on your nerve. LOL Good to see you here – busy, but ALIVE! yes! Happy Weekend!

Its amazing how many people have been touched by little April. I am gutted for her family I really am 🙁 I hope and pray they find her but its not looking good. Hope things with your daughter sort themselves out. Little girls can be so cruel sometimes and they don’t think about the hurt! Good luck with the new job! x
