Yuletide Yowza!

Here it is, the evening of Christmas day already. Over the past few days I’ve wrapped, unwrapped, cooked, eaten and napped. I’ve also swooned, schlepped and sniffled. And now….I’m just plum tuckered out! So, how’s by you? Did you have a wondermous Christmas full of the 3 Fs? (friends, family and food!)

Young Stud had the biggest non-surprise surprise of the holiday season for me. He gave his girlfriend an engagement ring for Christmas! He hadn’t told me, but after 4 years of them being together, I can’t say I’m totally surprised. I AM pleased. They do so well together. They understand each other well and treat each other with love and respect. No date is set yet – they are set on a small private ceremony. Matter of fact, I’m having to do some pretty heavy lobbying for them to even invite ME. And, hey! I’m gonna have a psychologist in the family! Hang on….is that a good thing??

The idea of a marriage raises all sorts of possibilities in my mind. Check this out – I’m going to be a MOTHER-IN-LAW. hehe. What sort of MIL should I be? Endless possibilities here….good thing the date isn’t set yet because I’m going to need some processing time to sort it all out. Rest assured, there will be future entries dealing solely with THIS subject!

Sis gave me an ass and a virgin! Er….I mean she finally finished painting the killer, to-die-for, beautiful nativity set she started painting for me 10 years ago.

Chickie, bless her pea-picking heart, came up with the biggest actual surprise. She got me 2 CDs (music I actually like – not a bit of Outkast or Ludacris or Nelly!) and a gift certificate to Borders! (Does my girl know me or what?!?!!) I questioned the source of the funding for those gifts…and found that she had convinced her dad to send her money so that she could buy me presents. That’s right – she got my ex to shell out some bucks on me. To say I am amazed and surprised is an understatement. Of course, I may not know the whole story yet…what story do you suppose she told him to get him to part with the bucks? The last time he actually bought me something nice was the Christmas before we divorced, just prior to my lung surgery, when the possibility of cancer we looming large…

But the REAL treasure was the simplest gift. Isn’t that always the way? Chickie presented me with a framed poem, carefully written out on notebook paper and matted with construction paper. I know – a sappy mom moment – but I just GOTTA share it!

SIMPLY THE BEST

Mom you’re not a failure
no not in my book.
You taught me everything I know
& you’re 1 hell of a cook.
That’s not your only talent
You brighten up my world.
I’m your number 1 fan
&forever your baby girl.
I know you think in life
You’re not playing your part.
But you’ve surpassed all others
& have reached my heart.
You’ve given me everything you can
including your love
That’s a lot 2 appreciate
& be thankfull of.
You mean the world 2 me
These words are true.
From the bottom of my heart
Mom I love you

Isn’t she awesome? And when the tears were running down my face, she looked worried and asked why I didn’t like her present! Silly girl! Suddenly 15 years of dealing with “kid stuff” seems worth every poopie diaper and teenage snit-fit!

Speaking of poopie diapers…..this wolf is pooped out! It’s off to dreamland for me…where I can nurse my currently gained status of sainted mother for just a little while longer….

aww, thats so sweet. im happy for you *hug*

😉 neat!

Woo hoo! A shrink for a DIL! How wonderful! But I’m not prejudiced or anything….. Awwwww–Chickie! Bless her little teen-aged heart! Merry Christmas to you and yours and hope Daddy doesn’t shoot up the TV tonight. Although, come to think of it, good thing you have soon-to-be-DIL hanging around. If he’s going to shoot up the TV, now would be a good time to do it.

Dearest Sunshine, RYN; I’d be glad to send you some Christmas pudding. One little problem, I don’t have your name & address. You can e-mail me (if you’d like) at: ainekate@hotmail.com with your info. I’m so pleased for you. Chickie is a real sweetie. Get some rest & may the peace & joy of the season be yours throughout the coming new year. *with warm hugs*

I’m having that same problem with realizing I’m going to be a MOTHER IN LAW sometime in the near future! Eeeeek, I’m not old enough to be a mother in law! I’m pooped too! 🙂

Merry Christmas –

OMG…that is incredibly sweet and wonderful. That’s some kiddo you’ve got there!! And congrats on your future MIL-dom. The good news is that you actually like the girl, so I think you’re gonna do A-OK and can spend your time thinking about what kind of…GRANDMA…you’re going to be! And I mean that in the nicest of ways. ~;D ArtImp, nsi

Wonderful poem. I’m so delighted you had such a lovely day, dearest SW. I had a grand half-day with my kids and pleased myself with a bit of writing. I think I can get back into the routine, even when R gets home. R likes to read. I’d best get writing. With a hugenormous hug and joy to you and yours…T the U
