My Protector…
I have been remiss lately. I have been ignoring my tuff gurl – little Fubu.
Fubu is the cat who allows us to live on her property. I have no idea how old she is. When Chickie found her, looking very bedraggled and more than a little worse for wear, I thought she was a kitten because of her tiny size. Six years later, she is not one smidge bigger. So she is six…going on sixty for all I know.
Fubu is very tiny. She can’t weigh more than 3 pounds. She has no tail – but it appears that she was born with one. Someone relieved her of it sometime before Fubu and I became acquainted.
When we first brought Fubu home, she was an indoor kitty. But Fubu has a few issues. (Hey – if somebody chopped off an important part of YOUR body, you might have an issue or two yourself!) Fubu became an outdoor kitty. My carpets were happier. So was my furniture, my bedding, and every other thing that poor Fubu decided to pee on (in addition to her litter box – not instead of it).
Fubu is a thug. Nothing delicate about her. I have never seen her back down from a dog – even the size of an Irish Wolfhound. Her body may be little, but her attitude is LARGE AND IN CHARGE. heh. Reminds me of some of my students…
Every morning, Fubu is sitting in my living room window, waiting for me to come out and feed her. At other times of the day, she rarely fails to appear when I call her. I have seen her running down the street from a block away when I come outside and call. She recognizes my car and materializes in the driveway every time I come home.
Every so often my independent little thuggish kitty feels the need to prove herself and delivers presents to the front door. Since I live in a place where there is a lot of citrus trees, there are a lot of citrus rats. Every couple of months, Fubu makes a present of a dead rat. And please believe me when I tell you that these citrus rats are 3/4 of her size. EW! When she cannot find a rat, she presents me with a dead snake.
Today was an all time high point in her career. When I left the house this morning, there was a dead rat in front of the front door AND one in front of the garage. TWO for the price of one. And there sat little miss Fubu, all smug and awaiting her breakfast. She looked up and gave me a mew as if to say – See how well I protect you? Now – how about some breakfast?
My own kitty hit squad – what more could a person want?
How adorable.

cute! Can you take a picture of her with a hand or something near her so that we can see how small she is? The way to tell a kitten from a cat is more facial structure than size. Kittens have rounder eyes that are closer to their mouths.

LOL, we have a few of those also. They are a mini cats, very small, even full grown. Ours like to bring moles and mice. They never eat them, just present them. They expect me to bring them old sandwiches from work in exchange. 🙂

I have a feeling if I hadn’t declawed my Gyspy and turned her into an outside cat she’d be like your Fubu.

See, that’s the thing with cats — they’re always bringing you gifts. Maybe you should give her to Daddy; he might not need so many guns!

I love this. “Thuggish” great word! Either your grass is very big or this cat is exactly what you said, tiny! Oh, and maybe she wants it cooked? 🙂

Cats! They are so uniquely wonderful and have this strange way of walking away with our hearts. I can’t imagine living without a cat in the house now that I have been properly trained.

Kitty!!!!! Now you know I’m a sucker for cats!! (There are now three in the house and one outside. Yes, that is in addition to the one dog, who is feeling strangely outnumbered.) My outdoor cats have never brought me anything bigger than a shrew, a mouse, or the occasional grasshopper. Thank God.
