I Want To Move to Wilmington

Just got back from my quick trip to Wilmington to see Young Stud and Star.  The trip was – too short!

I love Wilmington.  A marvelous hybrid of "Old South" and Modern Day.  Beaches AND Riverfront.  What’s not to love?

The Stud Family is buying a house.  I saw the outside – it’s very nice.  Much nicer than MY first house, that’s for sure!

I visited and hung out – very low key.  How low key?  Well, YS fell asleep on one couch in the living room and I fell asleep on the other….and we snored as a family unit for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon!  *grins*.  Poor Star – good thing she was out for her daily walk so she missed much of the seranade!

The whole purpose of the trip was to see YS coach as a "REAL" high school coach.  They had a game on Monday and I went.  I plopped my chair down near some parents and sat watching the game.  The closest mom leaned in and politely asked "Now which one is your son?"  I do love the south.  She knew I didn’t "belong" and was doing her polite best to fit the pieces together.  So I answered her – courteously, of course – "The Coach."  heh

The parents heaped praises on YS’s head.  It was lovely to hear.  The word most used to describe him was INTENSE.  Boy did that make me laugh.  Intense is a good word for it.  Perhaps even a polite word.  Ahem.

Yeah – I’d say INTENSE just about covers it….

We talked, we ate, we snored, we soccered.  Life, my friends, is good.

When Kidlet was little, we had some reason for driving on the 110 freeway which is next to Wilmington (California), home to many refineries. Wilmington smells funny because of the refineries. So, one day we were driving somewhere and some funky smell worked its way into the car. Whoever the other grown-up was who was in the car with me said, “Ugh, what is that smell?” Kidlet (who was maybe 3 or 4at the time), very calmly and matter-of-factly said, “It must be Wilmington.” ryn: Oh yeah? OH YEAH? Whip out a part and I’ll start sucking, Baby. Oh yeah! 😉

And you have plans to go back when? *LOL* Maybe a move can be in your future. Hey, as long as it has beaches and schools…. why not?

Intense is PERFECT. Especially in that last shot! 🙂

October 18, 2006

Yep! Intense is a good word!

i’d say “intense” AND “stud” are both very accurate descriptions 😉

Wow. He’s extremely good looking and he has great focus. How thrilling you had the chance to go to a game. I’m happy for you. : ) ryn: You are very kind. Thank you. I only wish that were true!

i couldn’t parse how wilmington delaware is in the south. Unreasonable place name locations are quite the norm here. Let’s see, springfield? one in every state? 🙂 I think we don’t have a wilmington. Ribbit ! Glad you had fun!

Great photos, especially that last most intense one. *smile* Your weekend with YS sounds very satisfying.

Heh; I’d have to agree . . . that last picture just screams intense. 🙂 Glad to read he’s doing so well.

ryn: *laughs* well, it was over so fast I didn’t really get a chance to enjoy it. Hey! I haven’t said that sentence since I left my first husband!

Dropping in. You know how it is. With a smile…

I love the pictures. I don’t know where Wilmington is, but it sounds like it should be just down the road from here. Except the weather looks infinitely better in the pictures.

he looks as if he loves what he’s doing…..
