A Different Love

There is a heartbeat of time

After I close my eyes at night

Before I slip into slumber

That I see your face and it’s familiar lines.

It’s only a heartbeat

or maybe just half that span

But you are there

And I know you in that time.

Your eyes pierce my skin

And our love is renewed.

All is clear

You are my lover

my partner

my friend…….

and then you’re gone.

When I awake, you’re not there,

Not now, not in this life.

But you have been there, my love.

I see the scars on your face and

the steel in your eyes.

Yes, you have been there for me.

Once, in wakeful unrest, I kissed another

And was scored to the bone.

I kissed his lips, but it was your face I saw.

I stood in the streets where we’d lived

My head spun with the colors and smells

I was there, tasting your love.

Eagerly I opened my eyes……

And became confused.

You were not there, but the taste…

The taste of you still clung to my lips.

I felt you there, there at the edges of my world

Watching and waiting, yet ever out of sight.

Must I earn your presence, body and soul?

How many fires must I walk barefoot on

Before you reveal yourself?

I have made wrong choices

in my impatience, My desire

to feel more than just the promise of the love

Which you hold in trust for me.

And so now I go back

Back to sleep, back to you

Back to the promise held in that heartbeat

The echo of a lifetime past

And the promise of all the future.

Such deep feelings… this was well written and very meaningful!

beautiful…rife with honest longing..;)

Very lovely. Loved it.

One of the things I love about OD is that we get to see each other’s many dimensions. This was lovely. Peace and love,

This absolutely took my breath away!!! I will read it over and over, and get new meaning out of it! You should write more like this one, your passion speaks for itself, and cannot be hidden by words! You are excellent!!

Applause and Applesauce!

A beautiful poem from a beautiful lady. =) Hey, I could cry Wolf, but I’d rather cry Sunshine! hardy har har…::honking your nose::

Beautiful! What a wonderful painting of emotions.

This is so lovely and oh, so sad and filled with regret. Dear Sunshine, my prayer for you is that you may find love — the genuine article, which is so rare. It does exist, although you may have to wait a while to find it.

Beautiful! Lovely! ::applauding respectfully:: You are a most talented woman! Looking forward to more.

Thank you for putting into words what I feel.. beautifully written!!

This reflects my own longing for my husband. He went to God, 8 years ago. And I miss him as if it were yesterday. lotsa love.

What?? Your Pa had 6 hired goons fight your boyfriend? Yeesh!! Nice poem though. Thanks for the vote of confidence!

RE: your note to me – keep it in your mind’s eye and never sway from your vision even if it doesn’t look like what you want at first glance.

Wonderful! I love it! Thanx for your note! And you’re right… at least I FINALLY know what’s going on and can fix it! 🙂

LoL. Thankfully in England we don’t have guns, we just use our fists. But should I ever date an American girl, well, now I’ve been warned by you, thanks!!!

I feel this in my heart and in my soul. You were right, Sunshine, in what you said in my diary…we understand each other… your words are more than beautiful
