A Day in the Life…
First off, let me apologize for last night’s temporary insanity and any confusion it may have caused. I DID write a Favorites Only entry. I left it up for a very short time and then whisked it off to PRIVATE status. What can I say. I was in an odd mood and the entry came out rather…..um……warped. (That’s putting it kindly!) So those few of you who managed to sneak in and read it…….just pretend it was my evil twin, OK?
That little bit of business aside….I am still playing with pictures and learning what to do with them – so today I did a picture diary of a very ordinary day. Lucky you – I ‘m going to share it ALL with you! Are those gasps of sheer unadulterated joy that are reaching my ears? Yes, darlings, its true. Welcome to my world.
On the way to my first stop, I passed the church where I spent a good part of my growing up years. I had a disproportionate amount of fun there, consiering its a church. (Of course, if the minister had known just how MUCH fun I was having….up in the balcony….after services were over………)
Since it’s Good Friday I figured I should at least wave at the church on my way by as I went to go get Cassidy’s Heart Worm Meds.
You just GOTTA love a vet with a fire hydrant that big out in front! This is the SAME veterinary hospital I’ve been taking my pets to since before I was old enough to take my pets to the vet! Since I was 6, I think. My parents’ next door neighbor was the receptionist, veterinary assistant, girl friday, billing clerk, and general all around do everything wonder woman there until a few years ago. This is another place that holds lots of wonderful memories for me (although of an altogether different “breed” than the church memories!) I’d imagine that the majority of my pets would have a different opinion of the place though. Except Cassidy. He loves everybody and everything.
Now that Cassidy was assured of protection from nasty heart worms for the next months, it was time for me to head to the health food store for some supplements and food!
Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Yummy healthy lunch!
Did you ever notice that there’s mostly skinny people in the Health Food stores? That’s cause all the “good” stuff is so damned expensive that they can only afford to eat very small amounts of everything!
Feeling all full and healthy, I headed up the road to look for books on aroma therapy and color therapy. Ummm…. So I bought these instead. Sue me!
Quite the bargain, eh? On the way out of the parking lot towards my next destination, I was reminded how much life can SUCK sometimes……
Note to self – so those motorcycle cops DO hand out tickets after all – they’re not just pretty faced easy riders!
On the way back south (like really – how much further south can you get than the south end of a tiny peninsula jutting from a southern peninsula anyway?) I passed by my daughter’s school. Yet another venue that holds many memories for me. Although I went to another school (a nice uni-sex parochial institution) most of my friends attended this school. Its one of the oldest in Tampa. More memories……sigh. The football games, the football PLAYERS! Wooie! And the first time I……. sang the alma matter. oh yeah. That, too. Beautiful campus, isn’t it?
Neath the pines of Palma Ceia….Near the bay’s deep blue
Stands our noble alma mater, glorious to view…….
HEH – and I didn’t even go to school there!
Onward to bigger and better (?) uses of my time.
I needed some stuff for the house – and I wanted to get some paint chips because I am gonna get rid of these damn beige walls soon if it kills us all and paints Cassidy like an Easter Egg in the process. So I went to
and
At the Home Depot I was entranced by this sign……….
What about the DEAD goods? Are they full price? Why should you pay full price for dead goods? Any just exactly what sort of live goods are they selling? Plants? Pets? People? What??????
So now I’m done and on my way home…..and I pass more landmarks on the road leading back to my past.
I was never allowed to go here. It was a vile, nasty and evil place. That’s what “they” said. And, of course, since I am a good girl I never went in there. I never smelled the sharp smell when the lanes were newly waxed down. I never played pool in the bar. I never knew the joys and agonies of spares made and split. Never learned how to keep score for the older guys playing in a league. Never…..you get the idea!
Do you know that this is the very same sign that’s been there since before I was born? All rigiht – some of the stores have been added. I’m pretty sure SteinMart hasn’t been around THAT long! lol But you better believe the Tapper Pub has! Er……..that’s another place that I respected my parents’ wishes about and didn’t go into – on Friday nights – after the high school football games.
Speaking of places I never went………and long time landmarks of this end of town:
I hear the wheels turning in your little pea brains. You better believe I’ve been in THERE! Come on you pervs – I dated the bouncer! Geeze! Bet you thought I was about to talk about my pasties and how I can twirl the tassels…..
Home again, home again…..to 2 pounds of PMS-ing pussy…..cat:
And a reminder to watch out for Cassidy that my father so lovingly crafted with his own grubby paws….
And there you have it – Sunshine Wolf’s day out, complete with memories and invaluable tour guide information to my fair city…or my part of it….or the parts that I wanted to show you, anyway.
Anyone who has fallen asleep may now WAKE UP……and be on about your business. Happy Spring!!
Where do I start? Whew. Okay, live goods on this side would be considered….bait. I’m sure of it. I once saw it in an ice cream cooler when I wasn’t looking and reached down to grab a push-up. To this day I can’t handle orange sherbert. Loved your day! Great school memories….er…great song too. lol

That was fun spending the day with you. Thanks for taking me along. I’m impressed with your photo skills and creative eye. I’m also amazed that you have managed to live in the same area your entire life. Of course it’s so beautiful there how could anyone move away? I’ve moved 23 times in the states of WI, CA, and OK.
