Yet another
I was working down here in the basement tonight, and had the computer on. I was organizing some boxes, and moving them to different places to stack them out of the way so I could continue building walls and finishing the basement. I’m not sure what it was, but something told me to go check my computer. So I came over and logged into AOL to check my email. I wasn’t online more than a minute when I received an instant message from one of my friends. The first line was, “I just went and put Belle down.” So we talked a little bit, and I showered and went over to just “be with him”. He seemed okay when I was there, but I think it was just that his mind was off of her.
Belle was the female schnauzer he has had for as long as I have known him. He has a male as well, Beau. While I was home for my family reunion over the first week of August, he found out that Belle had cancer. Now, one month later, she was so bad he had to put her down. When we were chatting, he sounded a lot worse than he did while I was there, so I am sure he was “being strong” because I was there. I didn’t want him to have to be strong, I wanted to be there for him in his hour of need.
In July, he took Belle and Beau to the amateur gay pet show in DC. Belle won third place overall for favorite pet. Beau came in first for his tricks he does. The ribbons are displayed proudly in their home. It’s just hard to believe that she could win 3rd overall in a pet show, and be gone of a damned disease 2 months later.
Belle, you will be missed.
🙁

Awww…they will be together again someday. I’m sure Beau is mourning as well.

I’m so sorry for your friend. One of my friends just found out her pup has canine lymphoma, and just weeks – maybe days – to go before she will need to be put down. Cancer is so fast in dogs…

Aww, that’s so sad. Pets become so much a part of the family that it’s like losing a kid when one dies. Please give your friend my sympathy.

RYN: Hey, ouch! Cut a girl some slack will ya? It isn’t as if I’m abandoning my OD friends. Those that didn’t go to Monkeybard with me, I plan to keep in touch with via e-mail.
