Where am I?

I’ve been busy lately.  I know, it sounds like another excuse, but I really have.  We had some problems with the cable modem a few weeks ago, and after we finally got that working again, I wasn’t able to get my computer back online.  It would boot up and everything, it was able to grab an IP address from the router, but I was not able to get out to the internet.  Don’t think this was something that made me ecstatic.  I wa going crazy, trying to figure out what was wrong with my computer.  Of course, VL uses the cable modem for work, so I had to wait until she was not working before I could work on getting my computer going.  If anyone knows VL, and how much she works, then they know that she is working sometimes up to 14 hours a day, and I am not exxagerating!  Her company does NOT know how much of an asset they have with her! 

So, anyway, I was limited to the times that I could work on it.  Finally, one night last week, I took the router out of the configuration and called into the cable company to see if they could assist me with figuring out what was wrong with my computer.  The first person I talked to gave me the same old information and tasks to try, which I now know by heart, and finally referred me to the next level support team.  After about 5 minutes of talking with someone who actually knew what was going on, it was diagnosed as somehow I lost my Winsock.  So, knowing that, I went up to VL’s computer, and did some research on how to remove and reload the Winsock.  Of course, having an HP computer, I don’t have the actual software for the OS, which was required.  It also wouldn’t even reload the Operating System!  So, I figured I would have to get another operating system, and load that onto my machine.  Of course, I figured that meant that I would lose all of my files on the computer.  So, I spent about 3 days going through everything on my computer, and burning everything I wanted onto cd.  Then I went over to a friend’s house, and he gave me copies of two different operating systems!  So I came home Sunday night, and sat up until 3AM, reloading my operating system, and getting myself back online.  Since then, I have been trying to catch up with my email, etc…
