So here’s what’s happening…

We’re FINALLY having some sunny, warm weather, thank goodness!  Eight straight days of nothing but cloudy, gloomy, rainy weather really took a toll on my mood….and my poor husband suffered for it! LOL! 

So I’m working, but it’s not the same job I wrote about a few weeks ago.  Yeah, that one only lasted two weeks.  After being left sitting for hours day after day by the office manager, who kept saying she was going to come back and help me, I got snippy and was then told "Yeah, we don’t think this is going to be a good fit."  I was pissed, to say the least.  I’m a damn good assistant, but every office has it’s own procedures and way of doing things, and I’m also used to Illinois law, not Michigan.  All I needed was someone to sit with me a few times until I got the "feel" of things and then I would’ve been fine.  But nooooooo…..the office manager, who was the one who was supposed to train me in, kept telling me "I’ll be right back there to help you" but would never come.  I sat waiting for her one afternoon for three friggin’ hours!  I did all the dictation and and other things I knew how to do, but I couldn’t do any of the e-filing or anything like that until someone showed me…which the OM just couldn’t be bothered to do.  She was too busy talking on the phone and bullshitting with other girls in the office.  So yeah, it definitely wasn’t a good fit.  So I was off work again for a week, then got a phone call at the end of the off week from a firm in downtown Detroit asking me to come in that day for an interview.  I went in, we chatted, I told them I was going on vacation on May 25, and they asked me to work the two and a half weeks until then and before I left for my trip we’d have a chat and see how things were going.  So far, so good.  It’s a very small office….two lawyers, one paralegal, one nurse (for the med-mal cases), and yours truly, the legal assistant.  I get along really well with everyone.  It’s crazy busy, but I like that….makes the time go by fast.  The only thing I DON’T like is that Fred, the lawyer who owns the firm, is a nervous nelly and he paces and repeats shit.  That drives me insane!!!  So I’m gonna have to learn to ignore it if I’m gonna stay.  We’ll see how things progress. 

But anyway, this weekend was busy.  Yesterday I got up and went and got a pedicure and a face waxing, ran to the mall so I could go to Macy’s and get some of the Clinique face wash and toner I use cuz I’m almost out, as well as Bath & Body Works to get some cream for my heels (they get callused really easily), then went and got my hair colored, then came home for a little bit to spend a couple hours with the hubby before he had to leave for IL for a work-related issue.  He’ll be back tomorrow evening sometime.  After he left I started laundry, dusted and vacuumed the living room, cleaned the kitchen, and ran to the grocery store to pick up a few thing.  Today I finished my laundry, started packing, swept and mopped the kitchen, scrubbed the bathroom, swept and mopped the bathroom, and vacuumed the living room again.  Then I ran to Fashion Bug to return a top and ended up buying another top along with a pair of white capris (my old ones are too big for me now), as well as a really cute bathing suit top.  Then I grabbed some lunch and headed home.  I ate, watched a little bit of tv while folding and putting away laundry, then ran out to Meijer and bought some bathing suit shorts to go with my new swim top and some fruit, and then grabbed some dinner and headed home again.  I ate, cleaned up, folded and put away more laundry laundry, did some more packing, and now I’m chilling and waiting for bedtime.  Whew! 

I only work Monday and Tuesday this week.  Tuesday after work I’m headed to Illinois, and Wednesday morning me and my chum Jen are flying to San Francisco.  I’m SO EXCITED!!!  I’ve never been to San Fran, and I am so looking forward to it!  I hope we have good weather while we’re there.  It doesn’t have to be hot, but I hope it’s nice and sunny.  We’re doing a night time tour of Alcatraz, which should be cool.  And oh yeah, definitely gonna tour some wineries and hopefully do some free taste-testing…lol!  We’ll be there for 8 days and hopefully they’ll be fun and relaxing.

My son’s ship is on deployment right now.  He called me Thursday from Hawaii, where the ship was re-fueling, and that’s probably the last time I’ll hear from him, other than e-mail, til the ship gets back in late October/early November.  He’s going to get to see some awesome places and I’m really excited for him…and just a little jealous…lol.  I’m going to miss talking to him, though. 🙁
