1 down, 2 to go!

Went to the doctor today….my first appointment with a new doctor.  He was really nice and I liked him.  We chatted about my diabetes and some of the things that go along with it and about my exercise regimen.  The best part of the vist was he took me off my blood pressure medication…..YAY!!!!!!  My goal, along with losing weight, was to get off my blood pressure pill, my cholesterol pill and my triglyceride pill.  One down, two to go!!  My blood pressure in the office when the nurse took it was 100/60, and when the doc tried to take it again he couldn’t even get the top number to register at 100, so he told me to stop taking the blood pressure pill and we’ll see how it goes with just exercising and eating better and he’s going to recheck it in two weeks.  I also had blood drawn today and when the results come back on Monday we’ll see how my cholesterol and triglycerides are also doing.  The less pills I have to take, the better!  Isn’t it amazing what a difference exercise makes?

After my appointment I came home and made myself a salad for lunch.  I didn’t get to have breakfast cuz I had to be fasting for the blood work, so that salad tasted really good! LOL.  I tried to lay down after that but my damn legs wouldn’t stop twitching, so I gave up and picked up around the place and watched a little bit of my soaps.  Then I got dressed in my workout clothes and headed to the gym, where I put in my hour and a half on the elliptical, treadmill, and some of the machines.

The doctor wasn’t sure how many calories I should be sticking to and told me to ask the nutritionist he wants me to see.  Well, unfortunately my husband’s health insurance sucks butt and won’t pay for me to see a nutritionist.  I honestly think Weight Watchers will be really good for me, so I’m going to join next week when I get paid.  They’ve helped tons of people who have diabetes lose weight, so I know it’s a safe program.  I’m actually really looking forward to starting!  I tried NutriSystem at one point last year and what a HUGE mistake that was!  Not only did the food taste like total shit, but holy cow does it make you fart!  Honest to God, if I’d walked into Lake Michigan I could have propelled myself across the whole damn lake, it was that bad!

T just told me that next weekend his girls are coming to stay with us for a week, so that’ll be fun.  There’s supposed to be some really cool water parks around here I can take them to, and I’m going to get online and see what kinds of other things there are to do since I’m still not real familiar with what all is around here.  But we’ll have a good time.  What I’d love to do, and this is something we did when I was little, is find a place where we can go and pick our own strawberries and/or blackberries.  I think that would be fun!  I love orchards.  When we lived in Indiana I would take J to the orchard there and we would pick our own apples.  He loved it, and it was a fun thing for me and him to do together….quality time.  I want some quality time with the girls while they’re here….they open up to me more when it’s just me and them.

I guess I don’t have anything else to say.  It was a pretty uneventful day, which is good….cuz that means no drama!  I hope everyone had a good week and has a wonderful weekend….God bless!

I’m so glad the doc took you off the bp medicine, cuz I know it made you feel funny. You’ll get off the others, too. I have no doubt about that. Thanks again for spending so many hours talking to me tonight and calming me down. I really needed it. When I’m alone so much, I get into my head and can’t get out of it. And seriously, I do believe I’m under some sort of spiritual attack right now. The battle for my soul rages on, but God’s gonna win.

“if I’d walked into Lake Michigan I could have propelled myself across the whole damn lake, it was that bad!” I’m still chuckling over that statement…you are too funny sometimes!!!
