Jekyll & Hyde Club

On Friday, August 12, My friend and I took our daughters and her son into the city for a day of fun and adventure. One of the placecs we went to was the Jekyll & Hyde Club for lunch. It was so awesome. My friends 9 year old son, who at the best of times has no patience, sat through lunch w/o a complaint or an,"I’m bored when can we leave." That in and of inself says alot as anyone with young children can attest to.  He was amused, fascinated and totally enthralled with everything that was going on.

The journey began as we reached the doors of the club located in mid-town at 1409 Avnue of the Americas, between 57th and 58th Streets. You are greeted at the door by a ghoul who asks that you wait there until your hostess is ready to seat you. Within a minute a woman asks you to enter at your own risk. You preceed into a very dark entry way, where there is suddenly thunder & lightening. She cackles and asks if you can "pass the entrance test". With that there is a skelton that starts talking to you and tries to scare you, when he’s done the ceiling starts to fall. the girls at this point are screaming and we are all laughing.  You are told that you’ve passed the test and can now enter.

There are 4 separate floors that have dining service.  From bottom to top they are: THE GRAND SALON,  THE LIBRARY, THE LABORATORY AND THEN THE ATTIC. Each floor has it’s own unique decor. We were in the LIBRARY. There were pictures on the wall with eyes that moved back and forth. After we ordered our food, I was just sitting there minding my own business (big mistake) when the lady who escorted us in scared the hell out of me. I laughed so hard I dropped my sunglasses under the very dark table.  Her name by the way, MRS SCARLET O’HARLET, as she was dressed the part too.  The food was your basic over the top (price wise) basic food, nothinf spectacular, (mozzerella sticks were 9.50 for 6). The entertainment was worth it, from the man coming around with a fake bloody hand, the the Harlet, to the British butler who just took it upon himself to harass the girls for being scared and screaming. There was also a little skit they played out where Jekyll and Hyde switches places and evil comes to life…or does it??????

All in all, we had a great time and even though Mrs O’Harlet stated that her mission that day was to scare me over and over again (she didn’t) it was a wonderful experience. Price wise…..bring money if you go, for 5 of us, the bill was $190.00. BUT, we did get souvenir glasses…OK…we DID pay for them….lol

We did walk around & took the kids to the biggest Tpys R us store, only the 9yr ld was impressed. then we walked some more and then walked over to a camera store B & H on 9th Ave. I wanted to buy or at least look at the Canon Digital rebel camera. As our luck would have it, they closed at 2:00 on Fridays…. BUT I did just order the camera today and got the better on, the 8.0 megapixels….yah…can’t wait to get my greedy little paws on that. And I’ll have it for my solo vacation…………even better.

Have a great  day all

Now that place sounds like a blast – and what a special treat for the kids. Something they’ll remember always. Well worth the cost for those “special” occasions! Wish we had something like that around here!

That’s Manhattan for you, pricy; but Chicago is pretty pricy too, I would say. Glad you had fun!

Wow! ryn: Oh, how marvelous, stormwatcher! 😀 Beautiful …

I’m pleased you’re willing to be interviewed 🙂 I’ll get some questions together soon. I have my mind on the ones I’m answering for now, but probably this weekend will be able to give some to you to enjoy exploring answers to 🙂
