Nice dinner

Well it took less time that less time to shovel the driveway that the day before. L and H helped. I took a normal shovel and broke the ice while they cleared away the what was left. The sun was out which made it seem warmer than it was.  I think I’ve had my fill of snow.

Afterward L and I got cleaned up and headed out to a place called the Mongolian BBQ. I was sort of dreading it because dinner was supposed to be with some of the in-laws and their friends. I generally get along with everyone my L’s SIL is a real pain. She compains about everything, has to have more than everyone else, basically has to be the center of the universe. For those of you who have watched the RugRats cartoon, this is what happened to Angelica when she grew up. Fortunately as we were driving, L got a call and found out that all but one over couple had cancelled. This was the couple we get along with and the one L planned the whole dinner with in the first place.

In you’ve never been to this place (it is a chain), you essentually create your own dished which are then cooked in front of you on a huge stir-fry surface. There are about 8-10 different meats, lots of veggies, and a number of oils and seasons to choose from. I used to just wing it but lately I followed some recipe cards they had available. My first plate was a cajan combo with sausage and chicken. When I added the rice which was waiting at the table, it made a pretty good jumbolia. Had a nice kick to it. My second one was kung pou shimp which was also tasty. No room for desert. We spent almost 2 hours just eating and talking. A nice way to spend Valentines day.

Today it was back to work…

Send the snow this way so I can learn to get sick of it! Maongolian BBQ is yummy…we have a similar venture here. *hugs*

Sounds nice, Glad you had a nice VDay. I’ve never been to that restaurant. I used to watch Rugrats about 2 or 3 times a day it seemed like & LOL @ Angelica. I wondered if she’d change when she matured. xoxo

That’s not the one on the north side, is it? There’s not one on the south side that you know of is there? I love those places! Sorry to hear the one couple cancelled. I had to cancel a dinner on Wednesday with another couple I know, and I felt bad because I knew my friend was really looking forward to it, but work called, and because of the snow, my schedule was all messed up.

RYN: In the Wire was this other diary site that came out after Open Diary. I actually met some people in-person from it at this gathering…and they were from various parts of the country. It was a smaller community…and so the people that were there fromt he get-go were kinda close. However, the owner ended up allowing more people in, and his equipment/site couldn’t handle it, so it eventually

started having a lot of problems with A LOT of down-time. I kinda finally gave up on it, although there were people that I wanted to kinda remain in contact with that were just on there, so I did still check periodically…but guess I’ve lost touch with them now because it appears to be gone for good possibly this time. 🙁

Sounds like a good time, especially since you didn’t have to deal with “Angelica”… lol I had mongolian bbq way back in the 70s out in CA. It was pretty good.

mmm, that sounds delicious! And I certainly know about the kind of person your sister in law is, lol. I have a *sister* like that, but I still love her to dearly.

I went to a steak place like that and it totally confused me. Plus, I didn’t know why I was paying someone else, when I had to cook my own meal…LOL! Sounds like you had a nice time…yum.

That sounds nice. The dinner, not the snow part 🙂 We’re buried here too….a little tired of it at this point. My college had a snow day for the first time in 18 years on Valentine’s Day…so that was okay.
