Back from the dead…
Well not that bad but I was amazed just how exhausted I was after last semester. I am not entirely sure how, but i got everything done. The class I took went well – the final much easier than the midterm although having to add more pages to an already 20+ page paper did not make me the happiest person in the world. The project for IU got submitted and now we wait to hear if we get the designation. I feel that we should but we are talking about the government afterall. Somehow I got all my grading done too.
The week leading up to Christmas was jsut as hectic but with family events instead of work ones. I should also mention 2+ solid days of shopping which couldn’t be done any sooner. By the 26th though, everything seems to quiet to a wimper. I got to sleep in not to mention not waking in the middle of the night with a head full of things to do. i got to see some friends who we went ice skating with. Held a belated Christmas party the 30th which featured the firing of a tiny, black-powder cannon a coworker bought me (I used to be an artillery officer in the army reserves not too too long ago). All in all, it was just nice.
Of course all things end and so did the break. January started with a bang with all the normal start of the semester stuff. Busy but not out of control. I was able to make one change this year. I convinced my chairman to allow me to fill a vacant student intern slot. I wasn’t able to previously because of some financial issues within the school. The issues are still there but not quite as severe as we originally thought. That will help lighten the load a bit.
Class wise, the one I am teaching has fewer students than normal. This is because we had to move it last minute because of a schedule conflict. That should make the grading a little easier. As for the class I am taking (and subject of the time conflict), I don’t know how it is going to go. I really didn’t want to take it and wasn’t "required" to but when your advisor heavily suggests you should, what can you say? In his defense, there are some very good reasons for me to take it but it is going to be a lot of work and honestly, the material scares me a bit. I am going to have to get in gear and do a lot of reading.
Stay tuned!
Well, I didn’t see this entry until I was responsding to your note! You are going to do great in the class you are taking, I have no doubt about that. I can just see you firing the cannon, how cute!! RYN ~ Yeah, it’s hard to beleive it’s been that long. I should go back and read some of those old entries that I pulled. Even looking at the early ones that I still have up…I was a different person then. As for the kids growing up, well, I’m dealing better, but it’s so hard to accept!!
