Adult Swim!!!

I used t always hate that. All the lifeguards would stand and in unison, blow their whistles. If you were a kid, time to get out. Adults only. You sat there for seemed like an eternity until you were able to go back in. All this some some old folks could swim some laps. Sheesh!!!

Fast forward more years than I want to count…

Last Monday, L had a rare day off and given the heat, going swimming sounded like a good idea. The closest city swimming pool is more like a water park which was perfect. Several large, winding water slides and an area for little kids complete with levers and wheels to control any number of water guns and fountains. When we got there, it wasn’t too crowed so set up camp. From there we went to some of the fun areas. Not long after H was ready for the slides. As luck would have it, she was just over the 48 inch height limit. excellent. She and I hit the first water slide. C wasn’t too thrilled by this as she was still too short to join us, In fact, throughout the day she tried to convince me to let her go. If I had any say, I would – the girl is fearless.

After a few goes on the one slide, it was time for the other – the one with the intertubes. It really looked great. We got in line and got our tubes when others hit the water. We got as far as the stairs when that once imfamous sound shreiked. At first I didn’t know what was going on until I noticed all the kids climb out of the water. At the same time, the line to go down the slides stopped. Could it be? After a quick confirmation from one of the lifeguards, adult swim applied to the slides as well. Let me tell you that this didn’t endear me to H at the moment but I had a ball. Must have gone down the slide a good 8-10 times before the whistles sounded again. Going down the tube slide was much for fun too, especially when doing so backwards. I got to the point where I figured out how to go down the quickest, almost to the point of flipping over. For some reason, the few adults who were going down the slides chose not to follow my example. Guess I was fortunate that adult swim is based on age and not maturity 🙂

H finally got her turn and loved it. She spend the rest of the day going down with a tube. I guess she truly is my daughter. To give L a break, I took C for a while so that L could also enjoy the slide. She, like the other adults, used more comventual approaches to going down. Chickens!!!

All in all, it was a great day not to be at work and served as a great prelude to a trip to Holiday World.

Random Noter~~Just the other day, I was sitting and thinking about what it was like going to the pool when I was a kid… and I remembered having to sit out for break. And then today I came across your entry… you had me LOL. Sounds like it was a great day to remember. =)
