birthday

So, I turned 23 on Wednesday. Last weekend we went to play poker in a casino in Birmingham. It was really fun – there ended up being 11 of us that went and we all got dressed up and spent all night there losing money. The majority of people went in the poker tournament, and about 4 just played slot machines, roulette, etc. The tournament was fun – there were about 150 people in it, which was quite impressive. Unfortunately I got no good cards all night and ended up going out with ace ten against ace four (obviously the first card out was a 4). I did get the 2nd furthest out of our group though, so I did ok even without cards. Most impressively though, Ben got to the top 4 and won £700! So that was pretty exciting, but we had to leave before it finished, because I was falling asleep and we had to drive home that night.

My actual birthday was lovely. I got amazing presents. My parents bought me an iphone! I couldn’t believe it when I opened it and saw what it was. Tom bought me something called the chocolatier’s table from Hotel Chocolat. It’s a huuuuge box of about 150 chocolates worth £75! I’ve been asking everyone I know to buy this for me for my birthday (only jokingly as it’s so ridiculously epensive) so I was pretty amazed to find that Tom had actually got it for me. I was at work that day, but Tom picked me up and we came home for a bit to eat chocolates and play on my phone. Then we went up to the hotel where he works for dinner, which was lovely. Then Fee, Ben, Guy and Sophie came up for a drink afterwards, which was nice. They sang happy birthday when my pudding came out (a lemon torte with a pink candle in it), and I got some more presents, the most exciting of which was Harry Potter cluedo from Westy.

Finally, last night we went out for another meal at Ask. It was me, Tom, my parents, Tom’s parents and his sister. It was lovely. They bought me some more lovely presents, including a cross stitch magazine and a new charm for my bracelet. It was a nice meal with lovely people so I had a very nice night.

And then Tom stayed at mine last night, so at the moment I’m up writing this, and waiting for him to wake up.
