Controversy, Stereotype and Spectrum
Sometimes when we look at some ongoing debates in our society, it is hard not to be involved emotionally. Emotions and ignorance give rise to stereotyping problems, or people are self-stereotyping although they kind of know they are not belonging to this kind.
Issues are usually complicated and opinions form a spectrum. But for the sake of classification, people usually draw a cutting line and neglect the feeling of the so-called moderate people. And what makes it worse is that even if people understand the existence of spectrum, they may not understand a spectrum has more than one dimension.
If the lobbyists and politicians understand the ways of taking advantage of controversy and manipulating the emotions of the voters in issues of an area, they are going to make money out of it.
