Christ in Torah??

Today one of my Jewish classmates read an article in CNN written by an atheist, and a comment beneath it. Then he said to me, "Sometimes people don’t understand their own religion."
"What?" I asked.
"This guy write: I believe that Jesus is the Christ mentioned in Torah." said my classmate. "It is fine that you say you have your own faith, but if you are arguing with me for something that you don’t actually understand, this bothers me."
"Well, I know that Messiah is mentioned in books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel…." I said.
"Yes, and probably Zechariah…. but not in Torah at all! And, the word ‘Christ’ is not even mentioned in any books that you consider the Old Testament. But anyway, some people say that they believe in bible, but they don’t actually know the bible. And they come to argue with me whom the Christ is without knowing it. This bothers me."

I didn’t really want to continue the discussion since I feel it would become irrational and sentimental. The word "Messiah" (which the Jews have another word for it), or its Greek translation "Christ", is not mentioned in the Old Testament at all, but in the past Jews coined this term to refer to the one they are waiting for. "Messiah" is Hebrew and "Christ" is Greek. But I feel ashamed that some Christians do not even know which part of the bible says prophecies about the Messiah.

Brothers and sisters, read your bible!

I find it amusing when atheists know the bible better than some Christians do. By the way, messiah means annointed one (with oil). All Jewish kings were messiahs. But maybe you knew that.
