ALTERNATIVE TITLE:  Tricks to defeat any argument (no matter how good or bad it is in reality).

ALTERNATIVE TITLE:  The reason I’m done arguing.

The Irresponsible Options For Defeating Any Statement Made You Disagree With

1. Ignore the Argument.

2.  Obscure, Impugn or Obfuscate the Facts of the Argument.  (Example:  "You said 1 in a million chance….really, it’s only 1 in 980,000.)

3.  Contradict Yourself.

4. Hide behind Definitions OR Change significant Definitions.  (Also called Equivocation of terms–using the same term multiple ways to give yourself flexibility in argument.)

5. Personally Attack the Person Making the Argument You Disagree With.

6. Nitpick the Argument or it’s form.  (This is just a technical way of doing #1)

7. Use Atypical Examples as though they are Typical.

8. Lampoon a Serious Example with One that is Similar but not Like the One being used against you.

9. Use Loaded Language/ Buzzwords

10. Avoid the content of the Argument for the Syntax or the Semantics of it.
