toplayalongathome: Enterprising Young Men Star Trek OST (2009)

I don’t usually insist that you go and have a listen to my song of the moment, but here’s a link that opens in a new window.

Go. Play it in the background. Notice how it is full of triumph, ebullience, and goosebumps?

….I got the job!

….I mean, HOLY SHIT! I GOT THE JOB!

I can’t stop grinning; I was doing little shuffle-step dances in the January rain last night. My team is sad to see me go. They took me out for breakfast this morning and we drank caffeine and ate pancakes and giggled.

After five years in one place, I’m a little nervous about leaving, too. It’s hard to let a sure thing go, even when it’s a thing I don’t particularly like. I’ve always had trepidation about changing jobs and all but but but

this is a company i’ve wanted to work for, for years

(and my punctuation is failing me, it’s been a long day)

and

i can shine like the sun – it’s an “entreprenurial atmosphere” as they put it. the world is there for my taking, i just have to reach out and build a department

yes

it’s that kind of job. the kind i never thought i’d have. the kind i never thought i’d want or be ready for

and

i want it, i can taste it, i’m ready for it.

!

and

when the formal wage offer came, it was a good twenty percent higher than what i expected.

twenty.

percent.

i managed not to scream into my phone. bellow. holler. “yes!” but i did dance all around the room as soon as i hung up.

i start next week.
