Well I finally have a minute to sit down and write an update! First off… On May 22nd I was scheduled to go in to the hospital to be induced. I went in at 9:30 pm that night and found out they weren’t actually inducing me right away. They gave me some pills to take to start softening my cervix to get things going. At 4 am I was given pitocin to induce labor. Apparently the whole night I was having contractions but I slept through it all. At 8 am my doctor came in and broke my water. That was supposed to get things moving. At that point I think I was only 2 cm dialated. As the day went on I finally started having significant contractions. They were painful but bearable at the same time. Around 4 pm I was only dialated 3 cm. The pain was much worse by then. At 6 pm the pain was so bad I elected to get an epidural. I was upset at first because I really wanted to go natural but I wasn’t progressing as far as dialating significantly at all to be in that much pain. By 9 pm that night I was still only 3 cm dialated so the doctor decided that I need to have my contractions monitored internally to make sure they were adequate. I also had to have the baby monitored internally too. At 11pm the doctor determined my contractions were enough that I should have been fully dialated. We decided that I needed to have a c-section. At 11:33 pm on Wednesday May 23rd our son Braeden was born. The umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck twice. That’s why I hadn’t dialated any more than I had. The little guy knew he couldn’t go anywhere so he didn’t. He weighed exactly 8 lbs and was nearly 21 inches long.

It’s been an interesting few weeks. I had the baby blues there for awhile and would cry at anything. I think that has finally subsided. It’s definitely been challenging having a newborn in the house. Boy do I miss sleeping for 8 straight hours. Of course that hasn’t happened in over 9 months anyway! Since I’m breast feeding it’s been harder. I’m the only one that can feed him. My husband would like to help out of course he doesn’t have the equipment. I do have a breast pump and I plan on trying it out here soon so that my husband can help. Then maybe I could get 5 straight hours of sleep. We’ll see. The little guy has his moments. At least this weekend he seemed to sleep for longer periods during the night which helped me out a lot. All I can say is my husband and I are completely in love with him. I’m looking forward to watching him grow! That’s all I have for now. It’s time for me to feed the baby. Later!

Wow, That is scary the cord was around his neck… I’m glad everything turned out alright!
