On Poki and Dogs

Seems like this is getting more and more like a monthly update kind of thing.

Time flies. Poki has been with us for close to 4 months now and we r loving her more and more each day. She always brings a smile to our faces. Oh, she can be quite playful sometimes (she’s still a puppy). We bought many toys for her and we didnt keep them. We simply leave them on the kitchen floor and she will take turns to play with each of the toys. When we are at home, we let her roam the house (except our rooms) and what she’ll do is bring her toys, one by one, to the living room. So at the end of the day, all her toys always ends up in the living room instead. J says she’s just like a baby. When we come home every evening, she’ll go crazy. Runs to me and then to J and back to me again then to him.  

She’s changing her teeth now. Maybe that explains why she keeps playing and chewing the newspapers which we used to lay her pee/poo area. She is just like a shredder!! I’m amazed at how fine she can shred the papers. But she gets whacked by us (ouch) whenever we come home to a kitchen full of shredded newspapers. Sometimes in the process of her shredding, her pee/poo gets onto the floor and she dirties herself.  Gosh.

But a few days ago, we took out the wire mesh from her old crate and place it on top of the newspapers. So that she wont be able to get hold on any papers at all. Haha. And I think it works! Well, she still manages to grab hold of a little newspapers by the side but that’s abt it. Hehe.

Ever since she comes into my life, I’ve become a dog-lover. I used to be a cat-lover and I still am now. But I’ve learnt to love and ‘appreciate’ dogs now. I will surf websites on dogs and I started reading on dogs. And I started to really feel abt those homeless and abandoned dogs. I feel so sorry for them and I’ll try to make effort to buy something from SPCA booth when I see them. Just the other day, I bought a calendar from Action for Singapore Dogs. J and I had talked abt getting another puppy but as that wld need extra cost, we said we wld made the decision based on how much is our increment and PB going to be. Haha. Now that I’ve seen websites on how pitiful those homeless animals are, I’m thinking of adopting a dog instead. But it wont be that easy coz most of the time, those homeless dogs are big dogs and HDB regulations wont allow them to be kept in flats. So if we were ever to adopt one, we wld hv to look out for a small breed. And I’m hoping that it wont be a hyper-active and noisy breed. Becoz we hv gotten so used to Poki – she doesnt bark at all!

I wld love to bring Poki with us out but there are limited places where we can bring her to. Sigh. Cant bring her shopping, cant bring her to most of the eateries, cant bring her on public transport. And we cant always bring her out, if not we’ll go broke from the taxi fare!  

Opps, didnt realise I’ve written so much just on dogs alone. Think I’ll stop here.
