"Would you please adopt us?" They ask her… Head rocking back and forth to techno music… WIndows down… Music blasting… All she can think is "God please don’t let there be a cop around anywhere…" To them she is a queen… Someone to be followed.. Worshipped…. Emulated… To her, they are an opportunity… The future… The chance to change some things that have become wrong in the world… Then a moment came… A serious moment in all the fun… "MIss Sarah…." This sweet, fun 14 year old girl asked her… "If one of us was being abused, would you adopt them?" Her heart stopped… What should she say? She wanted to stop the car and hold her… Whisper that the world was going to be all better now because she was going to take this sweet little girl out of her harsh life… But instead she said… "If God told me I could, I’d take you away and call you mine forever…" And then came even harder words to hear… "I hope he tells you yes then…" How has the world done this? How can one so sweet, so caring, so young, be hurt so badly by the people that "love" her? She tries to be a standard… The exception of all the other adults that are in these girls lives… She tries to be a banner of all that is good and wonderful and lovely in the world…. She tries to be a neverending bowl of love… Someone that is always there to run to… Someone that you can always go to for support, a shoulder to cry on, or a high five when the world is wonderful… Sometimes that role takes its toll on her emotions… Like today… Yes my dear… She will take you away… And the bad people in your life will pay for what they have done to you… She will make them… And you will be hers forever…
