Bias In The Media

Over the weekend, we were in Reno attending a Mission University educational event.  For those who may be interested, the focus of the class, in which i functioned as a presenter, was the Roma of Europe.  My role was primarily as "support".  I applied gaffers tape to extension cords stretched across areas of carpeting where people would be walking.  An led flashlight failed and required three AAA cells.  A patch cord stopped working.  That required a trip to Radio Shack.  The main presenter required Wet Ones and some sort of eye drops.  In addition to all of this, I am the "driver".  138 miles in both directions to move between Sacramento and Reno, through smoke created by the "America" fire near Foresthill.

Our hotel room comes with a television.  In-as-much-as i do not own such a device, the temptation to turn it on can be a challenge at times.  I did so on Sunday, and was treated to the very strongest reason for never watching the idiot box, as it once was called.  With smugness in his voice, a talking head assured the viewer that the vast majority of Americans "supported Immigration Reform".  The remainder of his talking points were such as to suggest that said majority was in support of the very changes that Democrats have proposed.  The problem with all of this is that the "vast majority of voters" do not support whatever bill is before Congress if for no other reason than the fact that no one knows what the hell bill is before Congress.  As with "Obamacare", the nature of the legislation is that it has too many pages, is too broad and is in so much of a constant state of flux for any member of Congress to know what is "in the bill".  It is about the right time for some moron to say that they have to pass the bill so that they can find out what is in the bill.  The fact that the same argument was used to push through Obamacare, and that the member of the House of Representatives who used that argument is not any where close to being in prison, tells us that the legislative process will remain corrupt, broken, and beyond repair for the foreseeable.   future.

So, we have biased talking heads implying that most Americans support legislation (on the subject of "immigration") which legislation is so unsettled that they could not possibly articulate either what it means or what it will entail economically in future.  Yet the pompous assholes on the Sunday morning "NewsTalk" shows assert that the detractors of the legislative process have it all wrong, and that their concerns are, inevitably, the result of prejudice.  Be aware that these words have been put in their mouths by the "English Majors" who have sold out to the political Left.  Their words can be very persuasive.  These English Majors are the kind of people who can sell you the dog shit off of you own lawn for fertilizer.  When you hear their arguments regarding immigration reform ( or any number of other political horseshit ideas such as Global Warming) you must repeat to yourself the mantra ‘These English Majors are the kind of people who can sell you the dog shit off of you own lawn for fertilizer".  The fact is that "most Americans" do not support changing the words "illegal immigrant" to "undocumented Democrat".  It would be nice to allow people from Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama, etc. to come to this country and to work, to send their wages back to their families, and to return periodically to their homeland and families without the dangers of crossing the borders illegally, and paying for that illegal immigration with the burden of carrying illegal drugs on their backs and risking death by entering through the Sonoran desert.

 NOTES:

‘Vast majority’ is a term they get away with a lot because it is so damn vague. And often a flat out lie.  [Graffiti Forensics] [p]

You discount the idea that people proposed ideas re: immigration reform for polls in a nonpartisan manner and people agreed to it.

Part of immigration reform should be a decriminalization/legalization of marijuana. 80% of drug cartel profits come from marijuana.  [SHARPSkinkid] [p]
