Among The Dead

It was rather disturbing to find that, among those whose diaries I followed, there were at least two who took their own lives. I did not have any direct contact with Skylar Culitun. Skylar was a high school student in Washington State somewhere. My reading of the information is that he was homosexual, and that also he was bullied at school. I knew of him through a young girl whom I have met through the Gorillaz website.

I had gone to the Gorillaz website because I had heard that the original album had been recorded with Tina Weymouth on bass and Chris Franz on drums. They had been a part of The Talking Heads. So, I asked the obvious question … who played bass and drums. The answers came back with the names of the cartoon characters. It was somewhat fascinating that the answers came back with the names of the cartoon characters. Yet, not all of those on the Gorillaz chat-line were so dense. Two rather young girls suggested that I migrate over to OpenDiary. I played along for a while, but then came to realize that, for the most part, the “diaries” were fictional. I’m afraid that I had expected more candor.

Over a period of time, one young high school female talked about her high school friends, her love of Choco Takos, and the fact that Skylar had come to school one day, with a loaded pistol, and shot himself in the head in a central quad at the high school.

As a completely separate incident, Maria Isabel Humbert, known to many who loved he humor on OpenDiary a “Penguin”, took her own life.

Somewhere in the Southeast, there is a woman who knew how to handle a pistol, but not always how to handle both vodka and Klonopin, was pulled over by police for driving erratically, brandished a weapon, and was shot dead by police officers.

There is also a fellow down in a city of off Hwy 14 heading into Oakland and Berkeley. When I first came across him, he was the Octogenarian Surfer, Then he was the Nonagenarian Surfer. Then he got to about 103, and died. No have words for that, but I miss him. He no mo kill himself.
