Silly Church People

Real- 1) Not imaginary, fictional, or pretended; actual. 2) Authentic or genuine.

There once was a time when I thought I was a Christian. In fact, I had all the “church people” that I knew thinking the same thing. I wasn’t trying to be a fake, but in the end that’s what I was.

Being the good little “Christian” though, I wanted to help get sinners “saved.” Yet in doing so I made the very same crucial mistake that most other church people (who care about getting souls “saved”) make; I forgot what it was like to be a heathen.

Just as it’s impossible to accurately group all church people together, it’s also impossible to group all of us heathens together. I know that there are plenty of reasons that heathens (which when I say it, I mean anyone not “saved”) want nothing to do with church and God.

Despite all of the varying reasons and excuses, there is one thing that pops up very frequently. Heathens want nothing to do with church and God because when they look at God or the church, they see nothing real.

Have you ever seen an advertisement for something and then gone out and got one and then have it not live up to what was advertised? I think that’s what happens to many people when it comes to God and the church. Although many people are observant enough to see before they even “buy” into it all, that it isn’t what was advertised.

In fact I’m pretty sure that church people already know, at least subconsciously, that they are selling something that no one will buy. True, they could never admit that without being a heretic, but I’m certain that it’s true anyhow.

If church people didn’t already know that heathens want nothing to do with God or the church, why do they usually have to go to the lengths that they do in order to get people in their doors? They’ll put on concerts, plays, bring in “special speakers,” have pizza parties, bring groceries to poor people, and do anything and everything they can to make church seem upbeat, fun, and cool. All so that they can throw in a little “gospel message” and think they did something wonderful for God.

For those of you who aren’t aware, an “evangelistic outreach” is a church-term for doing something to try and get sinners saved. Yet did you know that when churches do evangelistic outreaches, such as Billy Graham’s “crusades,” most often over 90% of the seats that are filled are filled with people who are already “saved” (at least in their own minds)?

It must take a truly awesome God to have followers who constantly need to be “re-saved” all the time. It must take a truly powerful God to be able to change people’s lives so drastically that in months, or sometimes weeks, the people are back the exact way they started; except now they sit in church. It must take a mighty big God to be so “real” that even his own people can’t agree on who he is, what he’s like, what he allows, and what it takes to follow him.

I think that if we heathens actually saw something real in the church or in church people, that there might really be lots less of us around. If there really weren’t more hypocrites in church than Christians, perhaps there wouldn’t be as much skepticism when people look at the church and it’s pew-warmers.

If the church ever WAS a tool of God, it isn’t anymore. It’s a self-sustaining beast that is motivated much more by internal politics than divine guidance. It’s a money-machine that collectively brings in more revenue than most of the world’s biggest corporations (and none of that can be taxed, at least here in the States). It’s a place to go to boost your spirits when you feel down or worthless.

It is NOT the body of Christ as the Bible says.

But alas, this will never change now. There are too many people making money off of it the way it is. There is too much invested, both financially and in effort, to change it now. The church is a sinking ship (hehe, almost typed “shit” there…I suppose that could’ve fit too…) in which the people on board would rather keep trying to bail water than to fix the leak.

Silly church people.

It’s a well-known, although not widely publicized, statistic among churches that between 80%-90% of people who get “saved” eventually “fall away.” Now if 80%-90% of the cars coming out of Detroit died 50 miles down the road, there would be a lot of people scrambling to find out what’s wrong and trying to fix the problem.

Instead, church people sing more songs, have more special speakers, schedule more activities, and try to blind themselves to the fact that a problem even exists.

Silly church people.

The funny part of this whole thing is that the people in churches delude themselves to think that they are, in fact, changing the world. They think that they are doing God’s will. They also think that because God hasn’t personally stopped by to bitch at them and since their money keeps coming in, that he’s blessing their efforts.

Silly church people.

It’s very easy to say that people shouldn’t judge God by his followers. Yet we heathens aren’t bound by the “judge not” rules, and so judging God by his followers is exactly what we do. Just as the church will never change and stop being the fruitless shell that whores itself with the world, we heathens will never stop judging God by his so-called “followers.”

Yeah but see here’s the thing….we’re not “together” officially boyfriend/girlfriend you know? i dunno. He asked me a while ago if he was some guy to fall back on so I asked him the same thing but eh….I don’t say anything about to him

People mess up. Who are you to judge us? We might make a mistake and do something that you “heathens” do, but the benefit of our sins is that we realize we’ve done wrong and repent and are forgiven. Dont judge us and dont judge the whole church upon the hypocrites amoung it. I’ll be praying for you. In Christs love and mine. Amber

look i’m gonna be blunt with u.Christians are humans too.ppl have this unrealistic veiw of what a christian should be.basicly PERFECT.I will be the first person to tell u i’m not in anyway shape or form perfect.i’m not saying that exscuses all of em but just try to bear in mind we struggle with the same things non christians do.number two ppl seem to make the mistake of looking at Christians. . .

January 26, 2005

to show what Christianity is about yes i’ll admit that u should be able to but as i’v stated before we are still human and u do have to keep that in mind.as I was saying why not look to Christ?? hes perfect where were not.number three ppl tend to clump us all together preachers included.they seem to think if one preacher is stealing from God they all are.thats entirely not true.the reason . . .

January 26, 2005

alot of preachers are so well endowed isnt because they are slipping money from the church its because God has blessed them.they are doing his work.as far as saying that 90% of the evangelistic outreaches are already saved getting resaved.no its ppl that are saved and want to praise God for it.Christians go to churchs to get enriched.to enrich their walk with God not to re-establish it. . .

January 26, 2005

and no that statistic isnt right anyways.there are actually quite a few that get saved at those things.and yes alot of ppl fall away from God they get caught in their everyday life and forget quit times here and there its a gradual process it doesnt happen over night.but God for the most part seems to draw them back.and i’m really not trying to sound like a jerk.but you should have done alil. . .

January 26, 2005

more research before writing this.some of ur comments tend to make u look ignorant.like I said not trying to sound like a jerks its just what I noticed.

*forgot to mention* I dont remember the verse but it says in the bible dont forsake the gathering of urselves together (aka Church). Sorry about all the notes didnt mean to spam ya there.

Why is today’s church filled with hypocrites? You said it yourself: http://www.heretical1.com/modern.htm “In today’s church it seems that the only requirement for salvation is repeating a prayer. After that, the person is given a hug or a handshake and told that they are now ‘saved.’ Problem is, I cannot find this anywhere in scripture.” …continued…

WHERE IS THE CALL TO REPENT? PRAISE GOD I saw myself as having broken every one of God’s laws, helpless to offer anything on my behalf, clinging to the savior NOT for a better life (although He has provided it) but primarily because I had zero hope without Him! My church is filled with hypocrites. We’re all hypocrites, me too. One positive about unsaved: they’re not double-minded! Continued…

They’re slaves to sin — cannot help but sin — and loving every minute of it. Don’t you love the state you’re in? I did. Jesus cries out His wonderful call of mercy to us hypocrites: Repent! Turn from your wickedness and have a sound mind, loving your God with ALL your heart and mind and your neighbors as yourself!!! We *so* quickly forsake this first commandment. Continued…

He likewise calls to the unrepentant: You have sinned! You have told lies, even white little lies which God detests. You have lusted after others and so committed adultery in your heart! You have stolen, you have hated others and so murdered in your heart! You have worshipped things other than God! You have not kept one day of worship! You have coveted other things! Continued…

He says: You have willfully been God’s enemy and He would be just in punishing you BUT… …here’s the good news… I will satisfy the justice for your lawlessness! God will look upon you as if you’d never broken one of His 613 laws! THAT, friends, is the message you are NOT hearing in today’s churches. We know the God of the universe, creator of time and space… Continued…

for whom nothing but complete obedience and love and worship is due. Einstein knew God. He looked in his telescope and saw vast galaxies billions of light years across. He saw massive fiery gassy stars too hot to even approach. But I don’t believe he ever went to church because where could he go to hear about the MAKER? What would he hear when he went into most churches? SELF ESTEEM! Cont..

Einstein would have left the church saying THEY BLASPHEME! THEY BLASPHEME! They don’t know THE MAKER. Friends the Maker is real. “Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” (Luke 13:3) Take Him at His word.

Well said! Heathens unite!
