Atheism
Last night (before I fell asleep at the keyboard) I wandered into a chat room where a gang of Christians and a gang of atheists were arguing. It was the same thing that Ive seen argued between those two sides ever since I began watching.
Every time I see someone trying to argue atheism though, I get a bit irked. You see, it is totally impossible for any human being to truly be an atheist, and I can prove it.
The philosophy of atheism, which is what atheists profess, is that there is no God, god, or gods, or any higher power.
Now the statement there is no God is what is called an absolute statement. Another absolute statement would be for me to say there is no gold in China. In order for that statement to be true, and for me to even be qualified to make it, I have to have absolute knowledge about China. I have to be sure that not one person in China has a gold filling, because if there is then Im wrong. I have to be totally positive that there are no gold semiconductors on any computers, no gold wedding rings, no gold dust in any rivers; I have to know absolutely everything about China.
Being qualified to say that there is no gold in China is impossible, because no one can know everything there is to know about China. Saying that though is infinitely more simple than being qualified to say that there is no God.
In order to be qualified to say that there is no God, you not only have to have absolute knowledge about China, but you must have absolute knowledge about the entire planet, solar system, universe, time, space, and everything. Why? Because if you dont know absolutely everything about everything, then its totally logical to assume that somewhere in the things that you DONT know, that there is undeniable proof of Gods existence.
Even if we amass ALL of the collective knowledge of ALL of mankind through ALL of time, we still only know a tiny smidgen of everything there is to know, and thus the people saying that there is no God are not qualified to make that statement. Not only that, but they are themselves believing in their own lack of belief with just as much faith as those who subscribe to a religion.
This is one reason that I dont consider myself an atheist. There is NO way that Im qualified to say that there is no God. I can say that from what I know and have experienced in my life that Ive found no evidence of God, but I cant say that I know for sure. Who knows, I may die and get the surprise of my life er death or something.
I think that all those atheists who pride themselves on being so intellectual need to sit for a second and think about what they are actually saying. They are just as much a religion as any other ones out there. I think they need to stop pretending and trying to convince themselves of something that they may never know for sure, and just admit that they really have no clue if there is a God or not, but if there is that they havent seen enough evidence to believe in him.
And thus, the ranks of the Agnostics would swell by the thousands
So this is where I say goodbye, this is where my story ends and if theres one thing Ive learned from life its that it gets you in the end.- Stabbing Westward
Why do people make such a big deal about these things and not let others just have their beliefs? Why do we have to be wrong or right? We all have our own opinions. I am sure that just because someone believes in God means that they truly know he or she exists. It all boils down to BELIEF and FAITH and what one is most comfortable with. If I am comfortable with the evidence put forth and chose-

to believe there is a GOd, then so be it. Thats my choice. If I choose not to believe in God despite any proof, then it’s again, my choice. You have no right to speak for everyone, or every atheist out there. I respect your right to do so, but a belief system is a very personal and individual thing and it’s hard for society to accept that or understand when someone else is living by a –

different standard. WHY? Why can’t it just be? Why does one have to be wrong bc they don’t believe in God? Why does one have to be righteous bc they do? We are all human underneath whatever religion we practice and we all lie, cheat, steal and decieve just the same. I would never condemn someone for what they believe and tell them until they have complete proof, then their belief system is –

questionable. Not only is that ignorant, it’s arrogant. You don’t have proof. What you have is an opinion.

*looks up* Since when are you not allowed to have an opinion on your own diary? I, too, have had this struggle. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It makes me understand mine a little more.

Ryn: I completely understand what you are saying – guess I wasn’t too clear on that myself 🙁 I guess my thing is I am tired of being bashed for not believing in God, you know? It’s just ridiculous, like there’s some set of rules i must follow or something. Understand that in no way was I getting on your case for expressing yourself, but bc I thought you were speaking for everyone which I

I’m totally with you on this … I believe in god(s) like I believe in UFOs or ghosts — I haven’t seen empirical evidence of these phenomena, yet I’m not so short-sighted to think that the only things that exist are the things I see and comprehend.
