Muse for a moment

I’m feel slightly more inspired…. finally! I moved last weekend, and I think that was hanging over my head more than I realized. Now that i’m re-settled for the next year, it’s allowed me to focus solely on job-hunting. That’s really the only thing I have to do these days, which is nice. Also, later this week will be 2 months off from work. I’m more conscious of that fact now than ever before, which I suppose it natural and a growing feeling. It really did take about 3-4 weeks for me to just mentally regroup from the situation i had been stuck in for the previous 13 months, and then I had to find a new apartment, new roommate, and deal with the move itself. Since that was the more immediate concern, job hunting got pushed to the back of my mind. I still don’t really know what I want to do, but what has changed is that now I want to get back out there and work again. Before I really didn’t. I was so fried, so beaten-down. Now i’m getting antsy and ready to throw myself back into things. I have a newfound energy for it. Since I don’t know what I want to do, and also don’t have any particular dream job, this leaves the door wide open for opportunity. I’d be happy to jump on just about any job that pays decently. Even if I don’t like it, it’s probably still going to be better than my last one, and if it’s not, i’ll quit and start my search anew. One very important thing that i’ve learned is that it’s all about the people around you in the workplace. They will make or break your experience. If you like the people you work with, chances are that you like your job. The opposite is also true. Of course you can dig down deeper. A good company is one which keeps it’s employees happy, and you are more likely to like one another in that case. So liking your co-workers is also a reflection of the culture of the larger company, or at least the division you are in. This culture really does come from a top-down directive. I’ve seen it both ways already, and it makes a world of difference. So how does one go about finding a company with good culture? I’m not sure, but that is my objective.
