We’ve Been To The Sie-Sead… And…
Hi Guys,
We have been busy for a change. I did tell of plans to go to the sea-side, or as Little Baby Jack says the sie-sead, so it will be know as that from now on or at least until I get bored or forget.
It was a funny day on Thursday, it looked like it was going to rain but never quite managed it, so we caught the train to Weston-Super-Mare, well we had to change in Temple Meads and our connection just kept getting delayed but we finally got on the train and it was surprisingly busy, lots of people and lots of kids but there was a lot of rough people about and this theory was proved by a couple who got on train never Weston who were ROUGH and were drinking lager and swearing at their children and complaining about social services not housing them or something and then the guy was going into the police station to confess to some sort of crime. I hate public transport.
Anyway apparently Weston is famous for it’s very long beach, apparently if you go at low tide, you cannot always see the sea from the shore and then half way down the beach you hit a muddy patch, and this is where the name Weston-Super-Mud comes from apparently but we couldn’t really see the mud anywhere.
We had a walk along the beach, and I had to get my feet wet, I did have my swimming shorts on under my jeans, so I could do a quick Superman-esque change if I wanted to go for a swim but I didn’t I just got my feet wet. The water was a lot warmer than that in Aberdeen, but it should be because we’re about 450 miles further south and I think Bristol-ish gets hit by the Gulf Stream so should be warmer, it was a lot muddier though:
We had a bite to eat, and as it is the law of the land, you must eat fish and chips at the sie-sead because they taste better, anyway we weren’t that hungry so just got chips and sat and ate them on the pier. We choose a bench with no direct ‘neightbours’ however there was a woman to our right. We noticed that she was crying and Chel thought she’d been stood up and I thought she’d just been dumped or something similar. Anyway towards the end of our chip eating-fest a husband/boyfriend appears with a pram and child, they must have been on the amusements or something and the woman was saying that she should have jumped and the guy was kind of like why haven’t you. And they were arguing, and it was awkward, she was talking about killing herself infront of the 2 kids and he was literally telling her to do it. It unsettled me slightly. Where ever we go, we always seem to find the wierd ‘uns. Anyway here is me eating chips:
We decided to leave the happy couple and have a wander to the end of the pier and play the amusements for a little bit. I used to love playing the 2p machine when I was younger and although Chel wouldn’t let me change all our life savings we had funny with 50p in 2pences. Granted we lost it all but I certainly had fun! Afterwards I treated Chel to an ice cream, I know what you are going to say, I spoil her but we both had one, although I don’t like flakes in mine. We sate eating our ice cream surrounded by fat elderly welsh people in those scooters with the batteries who didn’t shut up and complained about everything. I know I can complain but that woman would have been a medal winner! Anyway here is me enjoying my whippy:
Before we went and had a look around the shops, we had to try out the bucket and spade that I had bought. We made lots and lots of sand castles and if broadband were here I would put lots up and show you them but it is being so slow, so will put one up now and if you want to see more I’ll do it later. I have lots of photos but will only put a few more up before dial up is absolutely ridiculously slow!
Here is how I would look if I were a bathing beauty…
And here are the famous(?) Weston-Super-Mare Donkeys:
And here is the main reason we went to Weston-Super-Mare, they have made a big sand sculpture of a monkey and it looked good too:
And after this we went home, and the damn fresh air had made me all sleepy… Anyway yesterday (Saturday) we visitied the Bristol International Kite and something Festival. I have lots of phots form that to show but eed is getting me down a little so will write more later.
Speak soon,
Sam
