This, That and the Other
I didn’t realize that I hadn’t mentioned the project in my diary. What a dork!! The ODs that I talk to outside of the site have been saturated with details so it never occurred to me that the rest of the community was in the dark! Anyway, I was cast in the role of Samantha in the short film Sin By Silence. Written and directed by Nick White, it’s the story of how nine neighbors react when a girl is murdered in their small apartment complex.
I had submitted for the parts of both Kelly and Samantha. The character breakdown didn’t give me much idea what the story would be about and when I got called in for my audition the sides I was given weren’t much more descriptive, so it wasn’t until I was cast and received the full script that I got to see what a great project it was. He shot on 16MM (which is a big deal because most short films are shot digitally since it’s quite expensive to shoot with real film, but shooting with film looks SO much better and more professional) and I believe I mentioned in the last entry that the crew work on the tv show Chuck, so it was totally professional.
If I was given the opportunity to hand-pick any role in the entire film it would be Samantha so I’m COMPLETELY JAZZED that she’s the character for which I was cast. The character of Martha has no lines, the character of Jeanne is practically invisible in the final scene. I, on the other hand, have lots of screen time. The movie even ends on a closeup of moi!! Crazy, right? I’m way excited. It’s a short film so it won’t be shown in regular theaters, but Nick is submitting it to film festivals around the country. So there ya go. Details!!
In other news, I taste cigarettes. Don’t ask me why; I don’t smoke. Nor have I been around smokers recently. But still, I can’t stop tasting cigarettes! And I like it. Weird, I know. I don’t like cigarettes and I don’t like alcohol, but if I kiss a guy and he tastes like either (or both!) I love it. ??? I have no idea what that’s about. The only thing I can think is that in my party days the guys I’d make out with were drunken chimneys and now my brain connects that sensation with fun. But I do, I really love kissing a guy that tastes like a smokey bar. I am such a freak. Speaking of guy’s I’d like to kiss…
WATCHMEN TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!! The ever lovely Joella*does*LA is going to be subjected to my squeeing as I struggle to resist the urge to molest the screen every time Jeffrey Dean Morgan appears.
Uhhmmm… whoa. How exactly did Ellen become the spokeswoman for Cover Girl makeup? o_0 I’m astounded. Anyway.
Back to Jeffrey Dean Morgan. *squeeeeeeeeeee* I’m doing a buttdance across my living room every hour on the hour! There was a premeire in Hollywood on Monday and when I heard about it (AS IT WAS HAPPENING!! WHY AM I THE LAST TO KNOW?!) I cursed the fact that I’d have to miss it because I had class. Then of course I skipped class anyway. *facepalm*
Speaking of class!! This semseter I’m taking a sign language course at the local community college. I’m absolutely thrilled about it. Language is something that’s always come naturally to me and I’m having a ton of fun with signing. Though I’m having a bit of trouble with the numbers — just like real life! I could identify the number when he spelled them, but I kept getting lost when he used the symbols. Our first test is on Wednesday and I’m both excited and nervous. I’m not working toward any degree so grades shouldn’t really mean much, but the perfectionist in me wants to ace it. Mostly I’m excited to see how much progress I’ve made. I may ask the guy who sits next to me if he’s available to practice on Tuesday, or maybe a few hours before the test on Wednesday. When the teacher has us pair up for in-class practice we always work together and he’s got a strong grasp on the majority of the signs. He didn’t start out sitting next to me, but I’m glad he changed because he makes class a lot more fun (which is saying something because I LOVE this class). Our teacher is deaf so there’s a lot more leeway about talking in class and we, punkasses that we are, take full advantage of it. I don’t remember what happened, but as the teacher was fingerspelling today Greg said something that made me laugh so hard I could barely breathe and I was paranoid we were going to get in trouble. I can totally see the teacher separating us at some point because we spend way too much time laughing, though we do pay attention for the most part and we’re two of the most active participants. So whatevs.
It’s well after midnight and I’ve got quite a long day tomorrow so I shall end this rambling entry here in favor of hitting the hay. Here’s hoping He Who Shall Remain Nameless makes an appearance.
Banana = 2 days
