Say Cheese!

Until a few weeks ago I was not particularly interested in photography. It just isn’t my thing. Film? Yes. Writing? Yes. Reading? Yes. Creating annoying one word questions? Yes. Photography? Nah, not really. But now everywhere I look I want to take a picture. Boyfriend let me take his digital camera on my trip and that changed my whole point of view. I’ve always had those crappy throw away cameras when I took pictures…not altogether inspiring. His camera is a 5 megapixel Sony that took some excellent shots from the plane. I wanted to keep it after I got home, but I knew he toss me off the balcony before he let me keep that camera. Its his newest baby.

Boyfriend likes to take pictures of people…I’m more interested in landscape. I never thought I would be, which is probably why I am (damned Murphy and his stupid laws). I would love to be able to roam the country side taking pictures and writing about my experiences. Reminds me of a certain OD’r (who shall remain nameless unless she chooses to change that) who does just that. Of course its not a romantic job….tearing your hair out because your bills are due now and you don’t get paid for two months, etc, etc. But I’m still drawn to the prospect. Boyfriend’s parents have traveled the world doing the same thing. His dad would take the pictures and his mom would write. She is semi-retired now so his dad mostly goes out and does just photography, but he still gets to travel all over the place. They got to go places even jet-setters couldn’t. No one has enough money to go to every lavish resort out there, but they got paid for it! Picture J Lo’s vacations on VH1s “The Fabulous Life of” (or whatever that show is called) and multiply it week after week. That was work! Of course it had its downsides, too…I don’t know what they were, but I’m sure it had them.

I don’t want to go to that extreme, but I’d like to have the opportunity to learn at least a little about the art of photography. I would love to come back with real pictures of my weekend getaways. I have had the opportunity to go to some real photo-worthy places, but I have little to show for it. I’d also like to learn photoshop. I have some aerial shots that could be really great if I knew how to touch them up. Can you tell I have a ton of creative energy just dying to get out?

Hi there! Just a random note… curious… how much does it cost you for the personal trainer? I have been considering that but am rather cheap…

Hehe. You can use my name anytime. Yep, the digital thing is the real addition-starter. No processing fees. And you would LOVE Photoshop. You’ll be a digital maniac once you find out how cool it is. It is fun to travel and document it, but there are down days, too. Had a couple this last week, but now ok 🙂 More entries to follow. xxoo,

🙂 I know how that is. I dont like taking pictures, but suddenly today, i wanted to take a picture of everyone and everything! But yeah, i like your nicknames 🙂 Thanks for the nice note- i enjoy your notes 🙂 If you want to know, i dont mind- I live a few minutes from New Orleans, Louisiana. Fun stuff- except we’ve had really bad weather lately. 🙁 well, take care!

Photoshop is a cool program, and I don’t even know how to use it! But I know that it has some really nice features that if you learn how to use them, can produce some really cool effects. Have fun with it.

I love taking pictures too! Just wish I could do it better.
