Sleep/diaper
First off, it’s cold. When is Spring coming? It was 5 degrees (F) this morning. It’s 18 now.
Bruce slept til 5:15 this morning. Which is better. I gave him a bottle and changed him (at the same time) and got him back to sleep finally. Then I pumped, got back in bed but for some reason my mind was racing so I didn’t fully fall asleep. Then he was up shortly anyways. BUT I still thought it was too early for him to be up. I believe it was 7 or right before it. I could get him asleep in my arms but as soon as I lay him down, cries. Not just cries, wailing at the top of his lungs cry, then the cries turns into this weird kind of like grunting sound. To me that’s not good. I pick him up and get him calmed down, asleep in my arms, set down, repeat. I finally just moved to the couch, which reclines, and we both slept. I know that’s not good, but I didn’t really want him to stay up since he was upset and obviously tired. I had thought about putting him in the swing but didn’t.
This whole sleeping thing is getting frustrating. I’ve tried adding another bottle in the evening. I’ve been reading some stuff online but none of them says anything about the baby standing. Most of the time, when he’s crying, and I go in there, he’s standing or sitting, mostly standing. That doesn’t look like someone who is going to fall back asleep. A lot of times I think he pees and it wakes him up.
I really think, but hate to keep saying this cause obviously I haven’t been right, his teeth are on it’s way. I didn’t feel his gums today. They’re nice and hard, but couldn’t feel any point or anything. Every once in awhile he kinda touches his ear. Not where I’d think it’s an ear infection. I thought he chewed a lot before, seems he’s doing it more. But that might be because he’s now standing, he’ll chew or suck on the crib. He’ll like eat my arm/shoulder or leg. Last night I did try putting some oragel (nighttime) on his gums. But right away he’s sucking on the crib, so I don’t know how much stayed on.
On another note, changing a diaper or dressing him has become a real chore. He will NOT lay on his back. I don’t know about Roger, but I now change him on the floor cause he’s so squirmy. That’s kinda scary on the changing table. I try getting him to hold something so he’s distracted. Most of the time he doesn’t care or he rolls with it. I’ve been keeping the empty bottle around, since there’s just a little bit of milk in there. He might try to get it (it’s the bottle from the last feeding, so it’s not bad milk). Like I said in middle of the night, I give him a bottle and try to change him while he’s taking that. I’ve tried not changing him when I give him a bottle at night, but that doesn’t seem to help. Just let me change you diaper dude! Or he’ll lay there, I get the diaper off, then he’ll roll. Nah uh! I try getting him back and it seems to turn into a wrestling match. Eek.
Tomorrow he will be going to my mom’s. I hope she doesn’t struggle too much with the changes, cause she’s gonna have to dress him too! We were there Sunday, so she saw how he’s squirmy.
Speaking of diapers, I know some of my Faves are going to be first time moms soon. It’s hard to figure out what brand diapers are the brand to buy. Newborn-2 sizes, with Pampers and Huggies, they can come with the wetness indicator line (will state on the package). We loved these. We went back and forth on which one of those two we liked. We always had coupons so we used those. Size 3 loses the line. I had a Luvs coupon so we tried those. Never had a problem. We are on a Huggies jumbo box right now cause I had 2 coupons and got free wipes with the purchase. Blowouts, blowouts, blowouts (which is not cool for a squirmy boy). We already have a Luvs box when the Huggies are done. At the moment anyways, we’re thinking of stinking to Luvs only. But every child is different. I believe it makes a difference on boys and girls too.
I used to have to change my son on the floor and pin his arms with my feet while I wrestled with his lower half…sounds awful I know but it was actually quite comical lol.
