Bruce’s 1st Birthday
Can you believe it? My baby isn’t a baby anymore, he’s one!
We decided to do a party at the cabin. We didn’t want it to keep us home from the lake and most of the people would already be there or like to come. We did it Saturday, if we did it at home it would’ve been Sunday, his actual birthday. Kind of weird, the people that are normally up there at their cabins, weren’t there but that’s ok. My uncle, his partner and my grandpa were there over the 4th, so they just left their camper there for this weekend.
Friday, we get there and shortly after Roger and I left to go eat at the 5 o’clock for our anniversary (today). It just seemed fitting, that way we didn’t need to really deal with someone babysitting tonight. Also with our recycling points we can get a restaurant gift certificate but it’s only for limited restaurants and the 5 was on the list. It worked out nice since Roger found out he has to work in Albert Lee (2 hours away) today-Wednesday, so we wouldn’t have been able to go out.
Saturday we got the party ready, I’m glad I bought decorations. It made it look like a party, instead of just a potluck at our cabin. I was just a little bugged that Roger’s parents were over an hour late. They said they’d be the in the morning. I figured they’d be there an hour early. The party was at 1. I was concerned that Bruce wouldn’t last long enough. It all worked out. We sang him "Happy Birthday". I didn’t even bother lighting the candle. He just kind of looked like "can I touch this". Then bam, he’s covered in frosting. Afterwards, he was seriously covered head to toe We tried wiping him off with the wipes but he was so greasy. I ran into the cabin and changed into my suit. I took him and we drove the 4 wheeler down to the little lake. I took his diaper off and we dipped in the lake! We just stayed to clean him up and I put him down for a nap when we got back. Some went down to the little lake for swimming and other’s just mingled. Then most of them went for a pontoon ride. Some stayed back (I had to since he was napping). After everyone was back, we opened presents. Lots of great toys and clothes! Now I want to go buy a tote so I can put some younger toys away, not that there is much.
Sunday was a great day too, played lots of bags again, food. Then we went on a pontoon ride, swam. We didn’t get home til about 9:30pm. Cases like this, I’m glad I don’t work Mondays! Bruce slept the whole way home. It was, who knows when he’s going to bed tonight. He went to bed around midnight. Roger left at 4:30am for work. Left me a card and I left him a card on his bag.
Bruce is so cute! I love how he got into the cake 🙂 Are you going to keep the clown to have birthday pictures with every year,?

Love the cake pictures! I couldn’t get my son to smash his cake. I have a feeling my daughter will be all over it in a couple of months.
