Bruce – 14 months
Bruce is learning so much! I can’t believe how fast it was from baby who can’t hold his head to a baby running all over!
As I’ve mentioned, he has been walking since 10.5 months. He runs a lot too. He spins (both directions, apparently it’s not that common at this age to go both directions?), he claps, bounces, sits (barely!).When he wants to outside or you mention going outside, he’ll run and bring your shoes to you. With my flip flops, he’ll try to put them on my feet for me. Just today, he handed me his empty juice cup. I asked if he wanted more. Then I filled up a cup with water. He had ran, grabbed an empty milk carton from recycling and brought it over to me and said "juice".
He doesn’t understand "no" yet. I do believe he knows when he’s doing something that he’s not supposed to but thinks it’s a game. He laughs. We try to be stern and not join in with the laughter. He has started shaking his head with me though. But still does it. Although lately when we’ve been outside, he always likes to go to the bird bath or the water fountain. I’ve been saying "No, it’s wet", he’ll shake his head and walk away. Maybe making progress?
His sleep has been off for awhile. I can get him to fall asleep in the crib but for the life of me, I can’t get him to go back to sleep in the crib. He’s even waking up during his nap, still needing sleep, which he hasn’t done before. Right now, he’s now he’s sleeping next to me on the couch. I don’t know what he has against his crib. I’d love to say it’s teething but I feel like that’s an excuse for everything.
He says some words. Mama & dada although not for awhile, we should try working on those again. Ball (he’ll point this out a mile away!), juice, water, nay (neigh for horse), roar (for lion), baa (for sheep and goat), bird, bu (for bunny), arf (dog), will actually pant (for dog), more (always as a question, the is his second most used word). Lola (our cat), starting to say Chloe (other cat), shoes, bath (he’ll say it when he’s at the bathroom door) and have I mentioned ball? lol
Sometimes I feel like I’m lacking on what I should be doing with him during the day. Need more learning ideas. He stacks his rings now. He loves to put things in something and take them out, repeat. I just got all these wooden blocks, they all go in the truck and he takes them out and puts them back.
You are doing great with him! He is right on track, if not ahead! Way to go Bruce!
